Hi Greenmohave The flush if hit would win the high hand half of pot and you win the low hand half of pot.If there was no low hand possible then the high hand would take all the Pot,Hope that answers your Question and GL at the tables
Posted by Greenmohave: I've got a silly question, but when playing Omaha Hi/L8 is the low or high cancelled when someone gets a flush?
Example: board shows 2 j 6 5 9 and I'm holding A, 4, 10, 10 and with the A,4 I'd
have a low hand with A,2,4,5,6. Would someone win the pot with 2 hearts (a flush) or
would the pot be split with my low and opponent a flush (high hand)?
Just wondering about this since I don't play it a lot, but every Saturday and Sunday I play HORSE.
Thank You
A lo hand cannot be countered by a flush. A 2 3 4 5 is the lowest hand you can get regardless of what suit the careds are. A straight flush A 2 3 4 5 is the same in a LO hand as a unsuited A 2 3 4 5.
Flushes and straights only count towards the high hand so if someone had A 2 3 4 5 straight flush and their opponent had A 2 3 4 5 then the straight flush would win half hte pot for winnning the HI part of the pot and they would split the LO hand as they both had A 2 3 4 5.

Thanks for the feedback! I could have sworn I got robbed earlier based on what everyone has stated, but I'm sure I'm the one who misinterpreted the hand results from the hand. Anyway that's the reason I decided to ask the question. I wasn't really sure to how this worked, but they way it's been explained definitely will make me watch a bit closer. Seem's easy to overlook hands with all the sccenairio's that an take place or I guess all the outs if that's the right way to describe it.

yeah have to agree with doomdy- omaha 8 is a great game, since it's a hi/lo game pots tend to be bigger, and plenty of action all the time. you must have patience in this game (as in any other i guess) since if u want to be winning player in the long run- you must scoop the pots. so u need to have this in your head all the time, since it's very easy to think: hey i have the nut high or nut low...

Usually i decide to write my own opinion after reading the initial post of a thread and only after i go on and read other comments, but i am glad this time i didin't do it that way. Because fcumred really explained it very well to you, so you don't need anyone to tell you anything else about that question in particular. I am also glad he posted that because that doubt also came to my mind on a few games, when i didn't knew why didn't i got the low pot.

A low hand always counts in no matter what the high hand is, as long there are the card needed in the board to make one, which is cards up to eight. The pot splits in accordingly, to the ones having qualifying hands. Splitting pots in many ways can hurt your bankroll if you are overplaying chasing low for example.
