Poker Players Want Howard Lederer Banned From The Aria

A group of cash game grinders, led by Las Vegas pro Nick DiVella, are doing everything in their power to get former Full Tilt Poker owner Howard Lederer, who made a public return to poker last month, banned from the Aria poker room in Las Vegas. The group are trying to achieve this by handing out a petition and gathering signatures. Nick DiVella claims that over 50 well-known poker players are [...]   Read more » Poker Players Want Howard Lederer Banned From The Aria

It makes all sense. It's obvious the reason why they are moving this way, if his name is involved in such big dirty thing like Blakc Friday, who's the guy that wants to have him at the same table? I really can't understand why did he even started so sson to go again to a casino to play... some guys don't ever look at the mirror...

he definitely doesn't deserve to be allowed in any poker room with the money he stole from players who, as result from his actions can now not play poker until the US authorities give them that money back.
he's got some balls i'll give him that Disagree

I know some poker pro's are supportive of HW and are withholding judgment until the criminal proceedings are complete, they seem more than happy to play him in any fair live game. Others, as per above, obviously feel very strongly that the proof is in the accusation and HW, as a director of the companies indicted is directly culpable, which seems a bit like, guilty until proven innocent. After reading this news article, I attempted to read some of the official court filling's and the back up of such, the whole issue seems to stem from around 2008, when spokes were put in the wheels by the US DOJ, limiting and reducing what seems like legitimate transactions from individual US based player, the risk of money laundering (Illegal payoffs, cleaning cash) and wire fraud (Hiding income, reducing tax and or liability) acted as the basis for this action. Full Tilt, Pokerstars et al, should of, in my opinion, have immediately halted any US player's from playing, depositing and withdrawing any funds and then scheduled pro rata, if required refunds to any and all US based players, all directors fee's, profit (real or forecast) share and bonus payment should immediately be suspended, the subsequent continued service and the funds being frozen mid-stream stymied Full Tilt, Pokerstars et al to cover the “Legitimate winnings” of the US based players. How much each of the individual directors knew or were involved with the day-to-day finances may, at the end of the day reveal culpability, until then, I am going to withhold my judgment on any one individual. With regard to HW purchasing a large property, his legitimate winnings seem to have been able to afford him that ability, based on his previous, real, live winnings. I truly hope that the truth will out and if HW or any other entity involved performed any illegal act(s). Aside from the "Gambling" dispute which at it's core, is more about definition than cause, e.g. If I was a US based player and wanted to play some poker, I would expect a rake or tournament fee to be part of the deal, do I consider poker "gambling"? No, it is a skill sport/pastime. I would love to have the US players back in the game and any and all truly guilty parties brought to task.

Is it even possible for a casino to legally ban someone based on a petition?
I doubt they can do much more than to ask him nicely.

Lederer might deserve what he gets, but I don't agree with taking hostages (i.e. the casino by threatening to collectively walk out).

Before you know it, casino's will be paying Lederer to stay away... Seems like a less than desirable outcome to me.

easier way is if he sits down at the table, all players get up and move to another table
