Carbon Poker Donks  0
I'm just typing out a whine session and wonder if anyone else plays at Carbon Poker feels the same. It seem's no matter what game one plays at Carbon and it's less then %4.50 buyin you need to sit back and play very cautiously until the top 25 to 35% of the players are out of theway. If not, there's players that will call on any two suited cards or any two runners that they have.

Is this normal play for the micros elsewhere or is Carbon just full of these type of players? I sure don't remember it being this bad on FullTilt back in the day.

Its the same on all sites now. You just have to tread through the minefield very carefully

More people are playing any two suited, suited connectors, and suited one gappers, early on as a form of small ball poker. Don't be surprised if people are raising these hands as well, especially in position. Read up on small ball theory and you may understand better what is going on.

It's the same deal on all sites Green. The reason is simply the low limit you are currently playing...

In fact the same style of play can be found on all types of game on micro limits.

yeah it seems that overall level of poker is degenerating quite fast- if you play any lower stakes you're in for a donkfest- poker is not meant to be lottery, but when you look at lower limits- people don't even care about seeing the flop, nevermind turn/river- they just go all in expecting to hit a red or black...

I guess that doesn’t happen only at Carbon. It’s common to see that type of behavior in crowded sites, looks like people tend to lose the sense of the game, so they play that way. Sometimes I think they only do that because no one is expecting them to react that way. I had a recent experience at FTP (SnG) in which there were two guys that called my bets till the river, either with a high card or suited, and they managed to beat my pair of aces or my triples with “rivered” triples and straights.

There's no more protecting one's hand at these limits anymore. Can't bet enough anymore so at these limits it's fit or fold. Tend to play that style against maniacs, or aggro LAGs. They thrive on cracking aces, those are the ones that lol in the chat box. They play lots of flops and raise all kinds of holdings in all positions. The over bet is the weapon of choice.
Small Ball is similar, a good small ball player is a thinking player. They want to see flops and win pots, with more emphases on pot control. If they raise or re raise look out. The PFR style is different, they use 1.5, 2.5, 3.5xBB raises...mostly the first two. It's another style of play one can adjust to. There's more to it, still studying.
