Why would someone fold a milestone hand?  0
That's right, last night i was playing some ring tables at pokerstars trying to get lucky. At one point the whatever million hand came out in a 0.2/0.5 table and i went to check out the action.
Only one of the players had above $15 and the minimum everyone would get was $20+.
So one player goes all-in with his 5 bucks or so, and the best part.... everyone else folds except the $15 one Shock Question Angry

Why????? not like they didn't notice it was a milestone hand coz u get a warning and a minute pause before it begins. So it ended being a two way prize on a 9 players table. WTF was everyone else thinking lol. I opened this thread to read out what you guys think happened with everyone's brain there Big Smile

Some people aren't used to the action, and many others don't even care to the promos. I believe these guys didn't even understood what was going on when the game stopped. It must have been that. Playing for the game, for fun, to spend some bucks, acting always the same way, "i don't want to lose $5 betting against this all-in guy", not knowing what they could win even if they lose. I think FTP should start taking care of these situations, it happens a lot, so they could put everyone all-in and deal the cards, knowing they will always win more than what they have even if they lose. There would be nothing wrong in that.

The problem is most of you don't understand the rules of the milestone hand , you receive 20 $ for every vpp earned in the previous 50 hands... so even if you fold the MILESTONE HAND , the hand that everybody goes all in , you will receive $ , because it's said , everybody dealt into the milestone hand receives $ , so you're dealt cards , but you want to fold the bad ones , and people who go and talk trash to the ones who fold , I'm talking about spectators who can't stop using the f word , are pretty much idiots.

My friend, in this particular case it's obvious no one would lose anything in trying to win the jackpot. yes you do win the base $$$ but you can only win the hand and therefore the big prize if you don't fold.
If you're already in the profit why not go for the big one. As i said, everyone except one had below $15 so why fold? afraid of winning big?

And no, i'm not one of those talking trash in the chat, in fact i get annoyed by that chat and always flip it to show the stats or something else. Also i do understand how the milestone hand works so careful when using a statement like '' most of you'' obviously including me in a group.

Can someone clear up what exactly the milestone hand pays out cos I certainly wouldn't know if I was playing one. Did it explain when the hand was paused or did the players have to read up on it in the promo section of the site?

Hm, MILESTONE HAND. It's new for me. Would any one give further explanation or where I can read the rule or article about it ? Is it just for ring game and specific poker site ( not all of poker site use the rule ) ? Question Question

It's a pokerstars promo where every millionth hand gets additional prizes but since I don't play at the site that's all I know about it. I think Party or Full tilt have a similar thing when they approach these "milestone" hands. I believe it was just cash game full ring hands eligible but I might be wrong.

I have no idea why it's better for all players at the table to call but maybe someone could explain the rules as it sounds plausible. If the jackpot for the winner of the hand is big enough it would price them all in but no one has yet said what the added pot is.

the one i saw, stars said that EVERYONE dealt into the hand was guaranteed at least $20,so if you're sitting there with $4 you go all-in knowing that you're going to get the minimum $20 and you might even win the hand to get the jackpot,as any 2 cards can win.so folding with $4 or $5 is not an option.

just to be accurate about the prize, its $20 minimum, plus $60 for every vpp earned at that table in the last 50 hands and the winner of the hand gets it doubled.

Nice poll Big Smile I think they didnt know whats going on Smile In which poker room it happened? I know many of them have this type of promotion (milestone hand, tornament..)

I wasn't aware of these type of hands and of course they don't have them on Carbon, but even back when I played on FT I don't recall such hands. Is this something new they started or is it in the ring games only?

hahaha if they were aware of it being a milestone hand, then that is incredibly dumb.

Incredibly dumb indeed Big Smile

i loved your offered answer on the poll "They are too cool to go all-in with crap"- yeah they are way too cool Big Smile Thumbs Up thinking logically you shouldn't fold the hand, since it's +ev to go all in with any two card u have, yeah could be just stoned by the fact that they are actually in a milestone hand, and a rush of blood into head or something...they just want to play "correctly" the hand and take the min prize Confused

Hahaha Smile I choose first option in poll, like most of you. You must have no brain! Or maybe half of brain, with lack of math half of brain... it's so ridiculous. Maybe if you play at high-stakes - this prize is small... but it's profitable even when you lose this hand...

Probably they are new players that have no idea about the promotion that runs.
But even so with the pause before the hand is played they could have searched for it.
Its like tossing money in the garbage Smile

I think they don't understand the concept of milestone hands, sad really at those levels the recreational player missed the boat, prob best thing on long run, imagine a 27os player won he would nt live it dow, think hes invincible falls in love with 27 like Doyles 10 2, and endz up in gamblers anno
3 yrs later divorced homeless and telling every1 he can is amazing 27os sad story, lol, but seriously i believe some people ain;t meant to be winning poker players as many do sink to extreme levels, but eh
mangae urself fam and bankroll well u can be a sucessful and happy..gg gl all Worship Diamond Worship
