Seriously, whats wrong with that sh1t! Big Smile So what happened.. We are playing first hand on final table. I am on small blind (100/200) with Ac 7d.
everybody folds, I raise on 400. Big blind calls. FLOP: 10c 3d 3c. We both checked. TURN: Qc. I bet 500, he calls. I wish for club on river Smile
I was "lucky" Big Smile RIVER: 4c. So I have highest flush. I CHECK like a BOSS Big Smile, cause we were in similar situation before and he tried to steal pot
on river.. He bet 800. I am happy and thinking about value bet. I raise 2600. He is all-in in second. I am thinking what he could have?
Flush with K probably? I call and he showed me his Q3. I was really "lucky" on river, thanks for that club Big Smile Gosh how many times I lost with highest flush already... Angry

You have outsmarted yourself at the river. But those things happen, especially blind vs blind, when the pot wasn't raised and the opponents can have any two cards.

considering it was a 3 3 on the flop , the only way you could've played the river is at most call his 800 bet , you had the flush , but there were so many possible hands that could've beaten u , so I suppose it's bad play on your behalf.
Oh and 1 other thing , what did u play , that on the final table blinds were only 100-200 ?? a 18 player sng ? or what ?

it was small freerol with cca 40 players.

I dont want to play just call everytime when the board is paired and I have highest flush... Possible hand which he could have was Q3, 103 (he would probably fold it preflop), 43, 33,44 (which he would fold on turn). If he had 1010 or QQ he would raise me preflop I guess.. Any other hand is worse than mine.. so just call his only 800 bet to cca 2000 pot? And he played that hand passive all the time. I dont like it, but its just my opinion Smile

Very unlucky obviously - but two things: Your min raise allowed the big blind to call with Q high pre flop (i often would here too, even betting slightly more than min, like 450 or so, goes a long way in these spots).

And second thing - on the river - checking to induce a bluff is fine/good especially if you got a read on him having a high steal %, but don't raise his bet - because IF he is bluffing - then he doesn't call your raise and if he does have it (as he did) then he calls.. So basically by raising his bet you just fold out most of the hands you beat and get called mostly by hands that beat you.

Never re-raise with a flush when the board is paired, only call. I don't know if that's good advice or not but it's one of my personal rules when playing poker.

i have to agree with zeroster on this one: and to expand the concept- think twice before going all-in/ calling all-in if you do not have the absolute nuts. sure you can call all-in pre flop with 26 off but we're trying not only to look cool here, but make a buck or two also...sure u were unlucky & i'm not saying u should fold the hand, but without the nuts you're pretty much without the condom Spank

That's cute Smile)) always they won even if you made quads... when you make quads you espect they have straight flush or royal flush... never raise when a cards is doubled Big Smile my opinion Thumbs Up

I really think this is dependent on how villain typically plays their monsters.

I'm just wondering what kind of tournament hits the final table with blinds only at 100/200? Must have been a small tourney.

thats why mostly you should bet preflop and never limp - those situations is killing me

Thanks for suggestion guys.. I still think that always call highest flush when the board is paired is super tight play Smile But I will think about it when I will be in similar situation at table Smile

Actually like I wrote, I bet preflop.. It was only 2BB bet but I think A7 isnt that good to bet more and crap hand he would fold.

Yeah there are exceptions. There are no hard and fast rules including the rule that there are no hard and fast rules. Confused

The first mistake you made was the min raise pre flop. You are pricing your opponent into the hand. A min raise is not a raise at all, its merely making the pot look far more lucrative.

As for the rest, well I concur with everyone else. When the board is paired tread carefully. There is every chance you are behind even with the nut flush.

THe bottom line to this hand is you bet way too small pre flop and he called with crap and got lucky. Next time bet higher

In which case, if you can't raise properly then fold the bloody hand. A 7 is a fair holding that late in a game, and you should put pressure on players with hands like that. If you are scared to raise, then fold... end of story

I agree with you fcumred about that minraise. I think your comments are most interesting and usefull for me and all "average" players here to improve their play. Keep posting your suggestions Smile

Paired board don't re-raise standard..A7 os raise risky this is what made u chase flush draw u committed to take control and that will make u want to bet a paired board, weak Ace was bad play regardless of a flush draw, if u had min bet turn for info he prob would'a shoved or big bet and u would of folded ur chased flush and saved chips for a better hand unless u donk gamble it..paired boards are risky tho. Cool

Indead that s your major mistake.

If there s a pair on the boards , several possible FH are there, so flush can be beaten.

If your opponent was bluffing, he would have folded your reraise, so nothinh could be won there.
