Hi everyone.
recently i had some bad swing and was wondering how can i handle it? I thought to myself was i playing badly , was i making a wrong call? Most of the time i am ahead on turn but alway got out-draw by 4 outers in river. it had been wif me for the past days.

What should i do?
Take a break for a while, cool down and when you restart think back to the very basics.
I find that if I hit a wall ( which happens alot ) I always come back later after a break thinking far more clearly, and I realise half the time I lost was because I played the hand badly.

Well mate take a little break and come down. You do not always know your on tilt, or tired. Both lead you to make mistakes I know from personal experience. I am now playing poker as my only income stream again, so I MUST practice what I was just preaching

It depends on the length of the swing,but not in days,it depends on number of hands/games. You shouldnt judge your results on individual hands or games,you should build a samplesize by playing decent volume and then look at it,but not until you played a couple hundred games (at least for SNGs,for cashgames I'd say not until 10000 hands or so). It depends how many tables you play,if you play a very low amount of tables then these numbers seem enormous to you,but it's the truth,a very very standard swing goes at least this length and often beyond it

My advice is to play through it. I experience bad swings as well, I think we all do in poker. The thing to do is to stick to your BR management rules and then you should be able to cope with it. I often try my luck, (within my BR), at other games, say PLO or Omaha hi/lo. The change can be refreshing, assuming you are a Hold Em player or vice versa - you get what I mean. As you and others say it is just a bad swing. As long as you are careful you'll be ok.
GL in the future, trust me it will come..............perhaps try the Mob Home Game at the weekend - you never know perhaps your swing will change at that.

If a person stick to a good bankroll management strategy a bad swing can actually be overcome very easily !! but if the person is playing stakes which he cant afford to play , then he is in deep trouble and the bad swing will be very harsh and very difficult to overcome !!!
Anyways taking a break is very refreshing . .when you are back to the game just make sure you get all the basics right !!

From what happened to me ,the best thing to do is to leave the table as soon you get the feeling that the server is against you.If you stay in that spot you end up broke.

If I suffer a down swing, or even just a couple bad beats. I play a little game where I see how fast I can lose my entire roll, then on my next down swing I try and beat that record.
Well, only you can judge if you think you made the right choices most of the time or if you've made mistakes that could be fixed... Short term down swings are common for TAG players, and as BeMyATM always says if you're serious about the game you shouldn't even think about short therm results.
Maybe try to stick with ABC tight passive/trapping poker to get your confidence back up, but whatever style you play you're still gonna lose if you're unlucky. Confidence is very important for a poker player, and bad luck can affect that. And if you realise that you're being negative because of the bad beats, you should definetly take a break untill you really feel like playing again...

Don´t play a few days and then start a little challenge or try a new pokerroom or a new bonus. I think this is the best way to get new motivation for the game. And play not so many tables and only one kind of game like hu or sng´s.

The best way is to stop for a while (it can mean days or weeks) to distress the head and then returning as fresh as a first timer with the knowledge of a master. I have been suffering some strong losses at a single room and, as i don't play that much time per day or even weekly, i don't consider to stop more, but maybe in my case i should think about changing room for a couple of months, to see if they would also feel my lack of presence and perhaps things could turn better... New year, new improvements at the tables, everything will run better from january on, just wait a week more and you'll be ready for the new action!

when player had bad swing in meanwhile he bad decided and bad wnig transform to bad play try to play on ABC poker. That is the best solution to beat bad swing if u in tilt try to stop play on month or two months and back in game

A good break is all that it takes. The amount of time depends on you. You should not feel stressed after the break or keep thinking about the last losses of yours. If you overcome this you are ready to come back

1) go get drunk 2) find a big boobed babe and teach her a lesson or two (in poker that is) 3) change the way you're loosing money- if you constantly losing in on the poker tables: be original, lose it at the blackjack tables instead 4) start from 1) again

I usually don't play for a couple of days or play lower buyin games to attempt to evaluate my playing techniques. I always think after winning a few times I start to play looser and then start losing it. I do this without acknowledging it, but I know it's got some truth to it. Once I get worried because of losing I start tightening up and back to placing in the money. Poker has it's catches and snags.
just started a session 10 minutes ago, and already busted out of 2 tournaments..
K-Q against K-2 ofsuit,, ---------he hits a flush PLO i hold 10's and 9's with a double flushdraw... hit nothing ,,,opponent does .. A-Q suited against A-10 ofsuit.. he hits his 10...
omg....even went down limits ..to keep a healthy bankroll, but does not change anything on this downswing..

I am right there with you mate been a horrible weekend. I dropped half my bankroll. I tilted and had to take a break. I also got some sleep and have now started to turn things around slowly. I wish us both the best of luck mate. Be cool take a break and a breath. Come back fresh an start winning again.
