just closed the deal yesterday... got a pretty welthy member in my family (who doesn't)
i was in a poker/internetcafe yesterday where me and some friends play poker regurarly...
so this familymember was also there,, we already had some conversations about grinding and going pro or at least take a shot at it..
so yesterday he asked me why i was just watching instead of playing ..the reason was one of the lads was testing his trial version of HM2 and i was watching his deep run in a 11$ tournament (think it was ''the hot'')he finsihed 81th
And checking his holdem manager ,,see what new feautres it got,,,and how it would help him in his desicisions...
So the conversation we had went like this:
him:hey, why your ot playing?? you have no dollars on your account?
me: well i got dollars but actualy watching this deep run and |HM2 ,exctualy not realy into poker today,,bit tired ,so not realy motivated to play.
him: well,if you need dollars i can give you some...
me:you know what,,i don't want you to give me dollars ,i want you to sponsor me..
him: Huh,ok how much you need then ??
me:well that's funny ,guys how much would i need?? around 2000 dollars
him:2000?? why 2000?
well for tournaments i want to enter i need around that amount to start with...wanna play daily sessions of 8-10 hours multitabling and i also have to consider i can run bad.
him: ok ,at least you consider you can have good and bad runs..so that's a fair thought..
after some calculating we concluded that 1000 euro's is ok to start with..although i rather had 2000
anyway this will put some pressure on me ,in the first weeks , hopefully i will run very good in the first week.. and reach 2000 euro quick... which will take away some of the heat..
end of conversation:
him; hey (john wayne) can you transfer 1000 euro asap to cardraiser72 ??
john wayne; hmm, let's see if that amount is allowed ,at this point...(fictif name of a winning pokerbuddie of mine)
nope ,can only transfer 800 dollars...today,,, ''you want it all at once cardraiser,or would you like to start with this 800 i can send you today??''
me: naah, not realy into playing poker today...i'd rather wait till 1rst of yanuari and start of from that date...new month ,new goals... and also prefer to have the whole bankroll on my account,,,i don't want to play scared poker when i see i lost a portion of this 800..so i'll wait..
him: ok guys deal is closed ,gonna drink some beer..good luck to y'all i'll be leaving.
funny thing is ,i got staked and the deal is not 5050 ...it's much better,,all winnings will be for me...
of course i am free to pay him back ,whatever amount i like...
so ,my intention is to build,build,build...then call him one of these days and show him the results..
if things go well,, i might even get staked ,by adding a zero to the initial bankroll...(if required )
So, took some responability on my shoulders...now i gotta proof to my pokerbuddies that i can compete with them ...and win with onlinepoker..
(got 3 pokerfriends,, all winnning with poker,,all from holland)
with 2 of them i play regurarly ,,talk, read and discuss pokerissues..
wish me luck guys...altough i did not win anything in december 2012..a 1rst wish came true
now i have to work, work, work to let a 2nd one come true...building a huge bankroll..

On one hand i have to say congratulations for your deal, on the other i have to say never do business with family members and close friends. Lots of things can go wrong, and regretting it for the rest of your life. I hope this is not the case.

G'day mate Congrats on getting staked. I truly hope it all works out for you. My advice is make sure you pay back your relative. I turned down a stake from a family member myself because I know what money and family issues can arise. Well wishing you all the best of luck. Ronin

glad to hear this cardraiser- now go and raise some really good cards...you have what it takes to show the profit, so in the end both of you dudes (u & your staker) should be in chocolate update us here in the forum how you're doing, we always like to hear brm'ers success stories
