He maybe thought because you had only about 7 BB left you push with a wide range.
And with his 12 BB he was running short to so he took the gamble and was hoping for a coin flip.

The way he got his win looks worse because of the runner runner straight but he could also have beaten you with just an 8 or a Q.

A5 vs Q8 pre flop all in ...Q8 wins isnt that big of a bad beat

G'day mate

Well the first thing I see you say is you shoved all in pre flop with an ace 5.
why would a 3 or 4 bet not do. It would have given you options after the flop and if someone shove all in over top you the you could have went by your ead on them and call or folded if you thought he had the aces.
Yes you had the best hand preflop as it turned out but dude you never even had a bloody pair i hope the bloody Ace 5 were at least suited giving you the flush option.

I am sorry about your loss but really I think you played that one incorrectly. I know you were just trying to steal the blinds but there was a high likelyhood of getting called from and early position raise if it was a 8 or more player table left.

Better luck next time mate.

He had only 7 BB so no point betting ...shove or fold were his options.
You say he should have betted 3 or 4 bet (???) and then fold if someone raises ? makes no sense with 7 BB my friend.

I think he should have waited for a better position but on the other hand he was very short so A5 maybe was his last chance..

G'day mate

You are correct I miss read that I thought he had 27 big blinds left not 7. I need more coffee and to pay more attention before I open my big mouth. I feel really stupid now.
I thank you for calling me out on this one as you rightly should.
Wayniac99 I owe you an apology. You did indeed make the correct move. In this case do not listen to me as my head was clearly up my arse.

Be cool and good luck to you.

no probs....

Was a bad in a sense cos the other guy should of easily have folded the q8 off with only 600 chips committed to the pot. Hes basically risking his tournament hoping to get lucky in which in this case he did.

I was risking my tournament as well with a suited a5 but to get called against that bad a hand and then lose its sickening. If he was overwhelming chips leader putting in 30-40% of his stack i would understand but he was leaving himself 5bb if he lost

Yeah it was a donkey call as i see it also. I dont know what kind of read he had on you , but to think he was ahead with Q8 off its to much of a stretch to even consider calling it. If it was online it would be normal and some might even argue it was a miss click lol. But like so ... live... just goes to show you where he learned his poker from Disagree

I think he played the hand good, i mean int hat situation it was clearly a situation of fold or shove, no doubt about it.

Still, this story proves once again that not just on online poker you get this kind of hands. Better luck next time and make sure to keep us posted!

Good one for the final table, you didnt mention though any winnings, so i guess
the winning places were less than ten, or how many seats the final table had.
Casino players are often drunk Smile

Classic donk call. Look at it this way though: If your hand holds, you double up Blink

Good move then bad call, then bad luck... You did what you could ^^

G'day mate

Look at it this way you got in with the best hand and it was only stupid arse dumb luck which caused you to lose. really the guy made a totaly donkey call and sucked it out. he probably thinks he is a genius you will get him next time mate.

You just keep playing good poker and in the long run you will fleese him good. Smile

Be cool and much success.
