So, late last year I was talking about running for SuperNova on Stars this year.. Well, I'm not so sure about that now, but I will see as the year progresses, my goal atm is to get GoldStar for Jan and Feb and then hopefully build a big enough roll to start aiming for PlatinumStar from March onwards... Then around mid-year I can obviously make a decsion regarding chasing SuperNova.
Anyway- for now I need 500VPPs in the next 48hrs (end of Jan) to hit Gold Star - I believe I can do it, it will probably mean play around 500-1000 games though I think i the next couple days
However - I am pretty determined - as one of the hardest things about leaving PKR was dropping my 30% Rakeback deal there.. Most months on PKR last years I raked from $500-$2,000 - so 30% of that back each month was always significant.
I believe - from what I've found online - that GoldStar on Stars is pretty similar to 30% RB, pretty close I think.
Hitting it in Feb shouldn't be an issue, as I'm only cutting close in Jan because I only started putting any real volume in half way through the month..
Anyway - I'll post back in here how I go - wish me luck hitting GoldStar by end of Jan 31st ! Will mean my vpp->fpp multiplier will be 2X instead of the 1.5X with Silver, which is a considerable difference. GoldStar Cash rewards are better too (as in you get more $ per FPP) - however - I'll probably wait until I hit Platinum, before I convert any FPP into $.
Anyone else chasing a VIP status for Jan ? Going for SN for 2013? ETC?

Probably gonna chase for platin next month, missed SN by like 10K VPPs last year after having a 3 months break and then I just didnt manage to grind my ~150 games per day to stay on pace SN I'm not sure about for this year but probably not happening,I rather force on overall hourly rate joining the most profitable games rather than chasing rakeback. Good thing is I found 9 man hyper turbos a few days ago,I always thought in hypers you could only have like 3-4% ROI even as an exceptionally good player, but I realized 6-8% is what a good reg has there. By 16-20 tabling continous I can get in like 60-70 games per hour, meaning about 70VPPs/hour grinding just $3.50s,which is only a few hours grind per day to get platin, and the true hourly rate is also pretty good (@ 6% ROI it'd be like $15,pre rakeback),I think in terms of hourly rate hyper turbos are probably the best game overall,as well in terms of VPPs if you have good grinding skills
EDIT: Oh and Goldstar equals about 24% RB I think all rewards considered

G'day mate
You can do it amigo. I have faith in you. I know you can do it just remember to keep playing your "A" game. I have found that when I am chasing a goal under a time constrant like this one sometimes my game loosens up as I want to play a few extra hands in order to get the extra Vpp/Fpp's for being in more hands and this has cost me cash in the past. Learn from my mistake on this one and you will be fine. I know you will be able to do it next month for sure. I wish you all the best of luck.

Interesting, that's pretty close to 30% any way, I won't spend any FPPs until I hit Platinum anyhow, since the platinum cash bonuses are better value.
And yes - hypers are the s**t man ! Sure, edges/ROI is pretty small - but your hourly is relatively huge! You can just play sooo many tables, it's pretty easy to crack 100 SNGs in an hour, especially using TableNinja! Crazy stuff! Need to start using my HEM2 HUD I guess.
Update: 100VPPs to go, not sure if I'll play any more tonight, but I have no doubts I'll crack gold star now, which is good, Feb may be a difficult run to Platinum since it's only 28 days, but hopefully can get there!
BeMyATMplz: That totally sucks that you missed SN by only 10K ! Bah!

Going to run for PlatinumStar this month, little bit tricky since stupid February comes up a bit short on the count (days). So far I've only got 622pts, which works out to ~155/day - which is 4354 for the month, I require 7500, so need to step it up a bit, but I think should be able to get there!

Totally agree. I have less time to grind than most of you seem to have, but these days I couldn't care less about my level, and more importantly I don't have any cash goals either. In the past I would set $$ goals and when variance started to kick me in the head I would start playing above my roll, which can make for a really shitty feeling when you bust a roll that you have worked hard to build for a few weeks. GL Jess, you have proven yourself to be one of the most talented players here, and outspoken too!
