Recent figures released by French online poker regulator, ARJEL, have shown a decrease in the country's overall revenue. However, despite cash game takings being down by 2%, the amount of money collected from tournament fees has increased by 14%. Moreover, according to the stats, the number of high volume grinders has dropped by 20%, but the number of females playing the game has increased from 11% to 12%. While the continued drop isn't good news for the French poker economy, it does now seem that the market is beginning to find its level. Indeed, the growth in some areas of the industry, coupled with a 39% increase in online sports betting, means the virtual landscape should remain stable for the foreseeable future.

As for country revenue i thought that french players can play online only against french players so i'm not sure how that figure can change
There are a lot of players from different countries.I saw almost all european countries poker player online.But I never have seen players from France.Is it forbidden for them to play online poker with other players? If yes why?

You should try copy-pasting that post on google and see what it says... Who knows maybe sorin888 writes pokernews on other sites aswell

I believe your right about them playing only in their country. I've never ran across a french player on-line and that's really weird.
The overall revenue for the country has nothing to do with poker playing in my eyes. It's basically an unstable element that fluxuates based on various times of the year. At least that's what I always thought was a big changer in poker activity. I don't know to much about it to dispute, but I see the increase in winter months versus summer in the states.

yeah the french can only play against the french. Same with Italians and Spanish i think. It's their governments trying to cash in on the online poker boom
