Bwin.party rises on U.S. licensing prospect  0
Shares in Bwin.party digital entertainment, the world's largest listed online gaming group, rise 14.4 percent on news that internet gambling could be licensed in New Jersey, United States.

The governor of New Jersey said on Thursday that, subject to some amendments, he would sign a law which provides for the licensing of internet casinos and poker in the State.

Bwin.party has a joint venture agreement with Boyd Gaming which is licensed in New Jersey.

"We believe that there will be a material upward move in bwin.party's share price following this news," analysts at Numis Securities say in a note.

"The successful start of licensed online gambling in the State is likely, in our view, to have two positive effects. First, to encourage some other States to license online gambling. Second, to encourage Federal legislators, even those who oppose gambling, to pass Federal legislation in an attempt to control the development of the US market."

Shares in fellow gambling firm 888 Holdings rise 10.2 percent, with Playtech and William Hill up 4.4 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively.

If it's the start of of the begining, perhaps it's a restart. It's strange to look at the most developed country in the world (or so they say) and known as being the free one, and realizing there are some common activities that europeans and people from other countries have access to that americans can't do.

Would love to see US Amerivcans coming back in the market.
Its really a shame that they are restricted to play only on some smaller sites / networks.
Hopefully this will be a "restart"...

I' couldn't agree more. Getting American players back will restart the growth of online poker. I think it will happen eventually but it's going to ba a gradual process and after that it will take a while to recover what has been lost by having the U'S. absent for so long.

yeah, first moment i saw the headline, immediately thought of Greenmohave...sounds like those rusty mobpoints might be able to see the daylight.
on the side note- imo it was only a matter of time, when americans come back to the online gambling market, once politicians figure out a system how to tax the winnings- they will be interested themselves in seeing people play...

I think America was indeed the biggest source of poker traffic and also of money for the online gambling industry!

It would be great to have US players back on the tables in a short period of time Smile

Maybe this is what all americans wait.
If they start the online gambling at one state probably more will follow.
Plus will see more offers in the future when sites start to accept americans again.
Unless the offers are specific for them.
