As a precursor to next month's EPT London Main Event, PokerStars' Lee Jones and Annette Obrestad are going to take part in the Regent's Park 10km.
Running on behalf of the British Heart Foundation, the pair are currently appealing for sponsors ahead of their March 9 race.
While Lee and Annette are donning their trainers for a good cause, Daniel Negreanu is offering a night of fun and poker in return for people's generosity.
In an effort to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Daniel has pledged to reward four people who donate $2,500+ with a night of poker tuition in Las Vegas.
On top of this, Daniel will also match every donation made - up to a total value of $50,000 - until the end of the next week.

i like the idea- even though this is mainly driven by sponsors, and the pair of poker pros have only to show up here...this still is a good thing- money will be donated, and used for a good cause, that's the most important thing, hope more similar initiatives will follow, and this one is gonna become regular

I agree with you that it would be nice to see the big guns of the poker world all making charity donations once in a while instead of just throwing millions away on stupid bets. make donations and help those less fortunate. it would help to make the world just a little better place.

True but then again you can say that about any profession. I don't think that poker professionals are any better or worse than any other profession. Many people still think of poker as not very respectable so they notice the poker professionals that misbehave as it reinforces their pre-existing negative stereotypes.

Daniel is nice doing all this promo to a charity campaign, i hope it works as a way for the British Heart Foundation to get more funds to develop their important activity! some people can feel the will to try to win Negreanu's offer, making them donate more than they would be thinking about.
