Hey all. So as you may or may not know I'm relatively new to Omaha. I don't think I'm "too" bad at it (I'm definitely not good) I'm fine when it comes to knowing the good hands to play. Like AK10j double suited and stuff but i need some help with the mediocre hands. Should i be playing mediocre hands? or are the hands i consider mediocre really mediocre? I'm talking about hands like K Q 10 6 or A J 4 5 or even hands with all the same suit but with all high cards. I normally fold all of these types of hands but am i missing out on some value by not playing them? We all know those great hands don't come along too often.
So should i be waiting for those good hands and play them strongly (like I'm doing) or should i be trying to get in cheaply with mediocre hands? Also is playing four big cards when non of them are suited the right thing to do?

i think this is the key- if u can get in cheaply, and with the position, then why not, after-all omaha is a game of nuts- and nuts can be made not only with high cards...plus lots of hands are won just putting a decent pressure on your opponent when u'r in position... so u can mix it up a bit, it will make your game less predictable...thats just my opinion though- gl at drilling omaha

i wouldnt play those unless i know someones on tilt and they'll pay me off or if i have devious plans for donk/cbetting it and taking it down on a dry or super wet flop, youd be surprised how often you get into a pot and say 882 or 3 cards of 1 suit come up and u can have absolutely none of it but a half pot sized bet will go thru 2-3 people, best part is the bet only has to work i think its 1 outta 3 times to be a break even play, but remember its usually not best to fire on the turn if you get called
------------ position is very important in plo also, it can win u some extra bets and give u opportunitys to raise when if they had the button they wouldve just called and it happens frequently much more then hold em. dont underestimate the donkbet though leading into the raiser can win a lot of money if you pick ur spots wisely

It really depends on what type of game you play, if you play cash games and you have a bit of history with that player you could almost play any hand if you know that person folds on a flop cbet
On a tournament or sng my advice would be to play tight since a bad move can cost your the tournament...

The Omaha freerolls at Pokerstars have even more donks than NL holdem. It's quite common for the entire tables to be all-in before the flop. If you can get survive long enough though play starts to get better.
