What do you do when a bad player gets lucky on you?  0
Thought this thread may get some interesting responses. What do you do when a bad player gets lucky on you? Do you throw your keyboard across the room? Or punch your computer screen? I used to get pretty pissed when some very bad player playing 80-90% opf the pots got lucky on me for a big one. These days I actually strive to make sure the only wway he's going to win is by getting lucky. I used to most often when getting sucked out on, get a little what we poker players like to call tilty. I would most often start playing just as many pots as said bad player, with bad hands, & shortly be on my way out of said tournament. These days I actually say to myself "good job" when a player gets lucky on me. I have done all I can do. I got a worse hand to call, which is my main goal when attempting to accummulate chips in a tourney. I can control the hands I play, how often, how many, & how strong. I cannot control the luck factor which is a part of the game. I also like to ask myself this. If a bad player could never get luccky would he still play the game at all? No probably not, so I may even tell him nh, & I mean it. I don't want to birrade or belittle him. That might actually make him mad enough to play better, & I definitely don't want that!

Going onto a poker forum and flaming eveyone that doesn't agree with you seems to be a popular stress reliever. Big Smile

I've noticed that. I try not to argue with them. They will just drag you down to their level & beat you with experience. Aww crap! Big Smile

That is the best way to be! I never argue with anyone.

ah well there's one proven recipe for not getting into situation when bad player gets lucky on you - be a bad player yourself...imo it's way more fun to win with 26 off v.s. aa...then to lose with kk against 37off...so the moral of the story: be a sh1tty player & rule your tables with unsuited crap.

Never say a thing on a table, i just say them out loud Smile
But if i see the same player getting with such plays lucky over and over and not only with me,
either i choose to sit out, or change a table.
I have watched a few times the table i just had quit playing (while i was playing in another one)
and its amazing how some times players hit with anything they got.
Kinda funny watching all other swearing at the specific player Smile

when a poker player is playing a lot of hands, it doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad poker player. its part of there strategy , take "durrrr" from full tilt for an example. seems like a donk to me but he seems to do alright Blink

------------
furthermore, if it wasn't for the stupid players on poker.... it wouldn't be poker.

You have to remember those "poker shows" are edited, granted he does enter the pot with the worst hand a lot in the hands that make the cut. He also plays with those guys a lot, so he knows when he can push. You have to figure there's a lot going on behind the scenes we as viewer's aren't privy to. As for "bad" players, the point I think I was trying to make in this thread, is that you have to have "bad" players, in order for the whole thing to work. Furthermore, every player I've ever played with no matter how good, is capable of making a bad play, or getting "tilty". Any player would be doing themselves a favor to remember that when complaining about getting a "bad beat" or "sucked out on". Poker is a game of ettiquette the way I was taught it. Something that is sometimes lost, especailly when you aren't actually sitting across the table from someone.

Over the time i realized that playing with over-aggressive players on the long term is minus EV.

On a short term you can win since you can always slowplay a good hand but when you are multi-table the bad beats you can get with them can affect your play on the other tables you have opened, so nowadays when i see one i simply move to another table.

But again i only play cash.

I pretty much realized that yesterday Big Smile
I thought that I'm a player who doesn't tilt easily ( and still do ) but yesterday I was playing 3 tables of cashgames and lost a few big pots against a hyperagressive player and at the end of the session I was down ~8 buy-ins , losing in every 3 tables :S

I'm already used to the fact that bad beats can happen all the time.
So I am not surprised when it happens.
Especially in omaha.

I used to tilt so much and still do sometimes. But overtime, you realise you only hurt yourself by being mad, so I try to laugh it off or not react at all. The latter is harder, but lately, I just don't give a f**k what happens if I know my money was in good.

Having BR helps alot, cuz games are gettin swingier and swingier...

I believe some players actually use this as a strategy to try and pizz you off. I mean the talking trash and making statements that are irrelevant to the game itself.

I do like what your saying there hoodi about not getting upset by a bad beat. Even if I do, I need to keep it to myself and in most cases I do, but sometimes I cut loose. It's hard to sit back and say nothing sometimes although there's times I wished I wouldn't have just because it opens up a whole trash talking scandal. Will try to bite my tongue at all times. Hel, I even do it in here when some of these new members make idiotic statements that do not pertain to anything except trash talk. Shutting up!

LOL

I think that you must play your game and all what happens on the table is part of poker, always will be bad players, unlucky and unbelivible rivers.poker is good because of that you can won big money with nothing in hands and i bluff very offten, sometimes works ,sometimes not and that is beauty of poker, that is part of the game and I see you expect to everything be predictable.in that case we will tendent to be same players with same kinde of playing and then that game is not poker anymore.
When I lose with strong cards of someone who is lucky that hand normally few seconds or minutes it's not happy feeling but that hand is over and I play like that hand never happens and waiting what will next hand be.
Profi players sometimes playing some hands like donks, but that is poker and everything is possible
if you are in + don't care for donks and don't be angry because then you will take wrong decisions.

The donk getting his miracle 2 outer or runner runner draw doesn't affect me as much as folding a hand that is worth playing only when you can see a cheap flop only to see a flop that hits my cards for what would have been best hand.

I am a bad losers 50% of the time I swear and curse and tell them they dont deserve a poker account. This is an improvement on when I started playing online poker in which I would be a bad loser 100% of the time. A personal objective of mine is to become a bad loser less of the time. when I reach a more professional level I will be able to say nh more when I lose and realise that in the long run the 'bad player' is my greatest source of income. yes even though I realise this allready my inner animal has still not been tamed Smile Disagree
