This is very good news for Portuguese immigrants, because one of the biggest communities is in this state, and I am sure there must be lot who like to play. For those who don’t live there, this may seem strange news: having a country that creates restrictions for a certain thing and then having a part of that country that allows those same things. State law versus country law.

It's quite simple. The United States has a tremendous national debt due to the economic crisis from 2008, with all the 'bubble economy'. They are eager for money . So what they do? Find a victim. They send the Feds after illegal poker sites (Pokerstars included, which is the most legal poker company online). And who gets fcked along the way? The players of course.

I always thought the US outlawed online gambling due to all the cheating and fraud going on from the top down in several online poker outfits...
...PLUS the fact that folks can sit at their computers in their homes and absolutely destroy their own finances and families in a few clicks of a mouse...
...here in Canada,....NO bank will transfer money to a poker or gambling site...same thing with PayPal....they won't either...
...I guess the U.S. government would rather see their citizens spend their money on goods and services, which does society good,..plus funds the government so it can pay for services and infrastructure....rather than blow all their cash gambling online and seeing all that money go offshore to some tax haven and sit there dead....

About what US Government would like their citizens to do, that you refer, I think it would also be nice for them (US Government) if US poker players/citizens would keep buying credits to play on a US registered company like PS is, that pays taxes like any other company, no matter if it’s from the retail sector or whatever. PS contributes to enrich USA, and could contribute more if US players were in, playing with the rest of the world.
