Frankly i do not understand this move, i mean all people from ontario that already want to play online poker can choose any online poker site out there... The only thing that would make sense is if they will make some sort of private site just for the residents of ontario.

The SUPER good thing is that the site will be controlled by their government. A government what you can trust! About the "private" thing. i'm sure many ppl will adhere to that site and I think it will expand!

Still haven’t read anything about it on the sites I went to, but if that goes ahead it’s good news for Ontario players. I guess that they wouldn’t like to be playing only against themselves, so I hope that site, if it’s created, that contacts BRM (or BRM contacts them) so that they can guarantee a couple of tens of thousands of players in their launch!

Interesting,.....this is the first I've heard of this... And yes,...it would be a trustworthy operation seeing that the gov is running it,....
Maybe that's what the Poker Lottery is all about.....getting folks hooked on poker,...then springing an online format on them with which to gamble REAL money on...
Here's the link to the poker lottery game. I play it quite often,...and it pays out really good. You win instantly right at the machine so often it's unreal... I've won all the prizes up to $175 instantly quite often...

The private part would an operator independent of the Gov. The Gov will fund it to get it off the ground and the private operator will run it on a day to day basis adhering to the policies mandated by the Gov. The Ontario Gov can not operate a business for profit...if it does it must sell the operation to the private sector. Been this way for a very long time.

We're smart here,......we let the United States government spend all the money to clean up all the fraud and tax evasion within the poker industry,....and we just sit back and enjoy....
Besides,....all of the illegalities that took place,....was all within the American jurisdiction as far as I know....
What cracked me up about all the shennannigans was, one of the poker sites set up a couple of phoney front companies to receive money transfers from banks, just like the mafia sets up phoney front companies to launder money. I think it was PokerStars,....but I could be wrong,....but because many many banks and PayPal in the U.S.,....and NO banks in Canada will transfer money to poker sites,....companies with names like:
Grandma's Flower Shop
and, Bill's Bicycle Shop
were set up so banks wouldn't REALLY know where the money was going.... lol...
