Hey guys, so my favorite gametypes are HU SNG and MTT. Even tho i have a pretty good record at MTT every time i played them i was playing over my roll and so i usually don't try it. Heads up i usually play super turbo and have been struggling to profit due to huge variance lately just breaking even .. and the tilt probability on that format + the break even isn't feeling very profitable atm.
So i had already tried Double or Nothing at Titan and i did quite well but i never liked to play them as i don't like much to play SNG 6/10 max so i usually let it go and just go for the format i like (even tho i'm not being very profitable atm).
Recently i've been playing at poker770 1$ DoN's super turbo 6max and i have been doing well and i think i can maintain/improve that because the games seem quite soft. My plan is to build a roll to play mtt or HU.. but i've heard alot of bad stories about DoN's .. people saying it doesn't pay off and posting graphs of big samples with results near break even.. so i'm quite unsure about it since my sample is still quite small and variance might still be at the door.
So i just want to ask people about your experiences/opinion about DoN's (ST or regular).

Since you play in iPoker the dons you better have an eye for collusion. They dont actually care about it, even if you report it, they wont do a thing. Just try to take notes with the players you play, and avoid playing with the same.gl

Hum.. i've heard alot about that but have never paid alot of attention to it.. even tho atleast once i've seen a weird situation but nothing very obvious. But yes i believe it's probably something that can and must happen on those formats because of obvious reasons.
Do you play there aswell? You mentioned Ipoker in particular.. is something that you find common in there?

Well, the only problem with DoN's is that they're not really double up games due to the rake. Therefor their really low ROI but the variance isn't to bad. At PartyPoker you only need a 56% win rate to be profitable at the $0,50 limit and that's easy achievable.

ye i know i play super turbo which has 10% rake.. like 1$+10c which is ok.. but variance is a bit bigger than normal. Tho the rake at the regular ones is 20cents.. which is awfully crazy high :O so i stay away frm those. I've read about that winrate at other topic erru.. people talk about DoN's regs playing them for the bonuses.. but ipoker doesn't provide rakebackk which is a bit letdown.. and their bonuses are not super crazy. Anyways i think it might be a good way to build a roll for mtt.. but not sure tho yet. I have a 67% win rate for now but with small sample and i expect it to drop.
Since the variance is lower with DoN's they are a good way to build up player points with the poker site if you have a small stack so you are less likely to run into a bad run of cards that eats your entire deposit

Well give them a try and have a look if it works for you. Play a decent number of tourneys and see if you make a decent profit. Low rake on these helps a lot to make a profit, because of the lomited winnings

Take the example of the $1.10 DoN’s. If you win, you’ll take $2, which means you’ll have $0.90 profit. But if you lose the first and win the second, that means you have spent $2.20 and won $2, which means you will have $0.20 loss. They can be nice in a long run, if you win a lot more than you lose, of course. If not, it’s probably better to go for the Single Table SnG’s. You can consider them a bit difficult to win or to get to the paid places, but you won’t be doing only third, and when you get first you will be compensating a lot of future probable losses.

yep i know fakiry thanks.. =) I am acquainted with the basics about DoN's i was looking for some insight from more experienced players than me in the format.. my main idea is to build a roll to play mtt's which i like the most.. I have done well in sng regular but i don't like to play them much.. maybe i should change my mind but it's hard The thing i've noticed most about these DoN's is that they don't feel like pokerr at all.. it's fold fold fold shove .. and when blinds go up (Super turbo) it's blind shove. But i seem to be profiting a bit on them so i keep on.
More than that they seem to be awesome for point collecting.. i've made alot of points since i started them .. too bad poker770 doesn't offer great bonuses for them.

well I play DoN regurlarly and profitable...
I personnally try to avoifd the turbo s and hyper turbo s because I try to use the unpatient players. In the beginning I only play :
low pocket pairs and suited connectors in late position if I only have to call 1 BB If you hit a straight, flush or set --> big profit SO postflop just play by pottodds for str or fl draw hands like AA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK --> 4 BB raise (or 3-bet)
keep in mind : your aim is to reach the top 3 (6-player table) and top 5 (10-player table)
which means you do not have to play the others out, as long as your not in the last 2 places try to stay out of the action except with monster hands. Keep observing your opponents (what starting hands do they play, what they do if they face a 3-bet) , especially observe the players sitting at the left site from you. Use this info in the final stage (1 player left to kick out)

Yes i was playing there the specific games and stopped after i saw that they didnt do anything about it. It was a few years back, i had screenshots and translations from two players coluding and multitabling at the same time, reported with all the evidence and after about two weeks they were still online and playing at the same tables So what can you say...

that pretty much how I play them too. Usually, it works quite well. Of course, you can still get donked out from time to time but it tends to happen less often than in regular tournaments and the down swings don't usually last as long either.

Well i understand that you don't like to play the turbos and hypers but the rake in the regular ones is the double? that's a huge difference tbh.. but i guess you can use your skill to go past it.. you need to have a bigger winrate for sure tho.
So i've started playing there for a few days and i've reached the 1st lvl of vip .. you can only go 1 lvl per month? do the rest of points you accumulate in this month count for the next month lvl? I don't understand that system very well can anyone enlight me? :<

DoN's are a good option if only got a smale bankroll But the 20% rake at ipoker for the $1.00 DoN’s (normal speed) is ridiculous !!! And the Super turbo Dons are more like playing craps then playing poker (with 1 min blind levels) So the $1.00 HU SNG’s might be the better choice if you are a got HU player
