full tilt have added a few new games with the latest software update: 5 card stud & irish holdem- this one looks interesting: here's an excerpt of the rules in short "This game is a variant of Hold'em, where the main difference becomes obvious when the cards are first dealt: players are dealt four hole cards instead of two pre-flop. Two of these must be discarded after the flop round of betting, and the hand then proceeds similarly to a standard Hold'em hand. Irish is offered in both No Limit and Pot Limit formats." i think it sounds promising...any ideas?
------------ holy sh1t this is sweet, tried one hu sng- the game itself flows brilliantly, much better than texas holdem imo. it feels like a mixture of omaha & texas holdem...we'll see if it gets popular with time

G'day mate
I must admit it sounds interesting but I do not know if I will be any good at it. I will have to give it a try just for the potential fun factor as a nice break from regular grinding. It might even get me out of my down swing. Variance sucks and I seem to be right in the damn middle of its pool of crap.

i'm playing a tourney now,you get 4 cards dealt to you, then a round of betting, then you see the flop, then another round of betting and then you discard 2 cards, carry on as normal after that. this could catch on,but i prefer normal hold em.

Sounds interesting,..... but I'm not hooked up there,....
Normally when things are named after people or countries, or whatever,...characteristics of those are taken into account and some sort of spin reflecting that is incorporated,....
I can only think of 2 things the Irish threw out....

I've just transferred $10 over to fulltilt to give this a shot It's super swingy. the very 1st hand i played i lost my buy in ($2) then i built my stack up to $11 now I'm back down to $5.40 lol. It's a very fun game tho
------------ Up to $8.50 now I'm liking this game
------------ I hate this game Lost all my money unbelievable amount of bad luck. against one guy as well. i would hit a set and he would hit his straight draw when the money went in. when i had a straight draw he had the set and would make a fh or i wouldn't hit the straight. that must of happened like 6 times in half an hour i was up to $16 from my initial $10 now i have nothing lol. sucks

hahaha this is exactly the path i took: first excited by the format, then won some & really began to like the game, later blew my roll & began to think that this is a new level of rigged poker- rigged the irish way
no really the game itself is more fun to play than texas holdem, but it's a bit tougher, i said this before: imo it's somewhat of a mix between omaha & texas holdem...

Yeah it's definitely a good game. Hard to decide which two to discard sometimes. "Should I stick with my two pair or should I risk it and go for the straight" lol I will give it another go some day for sure.

hmm, sounds interesting indeed. Maybe I will have a look at it and give it a try. Any good advice you can already give ? Or shall I just try it at the microstakes ?

dunno fairly new game, usually the winning combination is a lot higher than regular holdem, so look for starting hands that can form straight or flush (especially nut flush, since very often you do end up flush v.s. flush)...other than that- sure just give it a go @microstakes, see how u like it. gl. update us with the results
