No Limit Texas Holdem, that's the only game I play. I saw a thread where people were talking about Omaha and other games and it seems a lot different than NLTH. I was wondering, am I the only one who plays this game only? I have never tried to learn other games. Maybe some of you who play other games more often could tell me about them! Is it easier to play Omaha, or 7 stud or etc? Do you need more money, more experience?
well i play alot of freerolls and i mean alot i pretty much know all variants on pokerstars there quite good the last one im still learning is badugi chinese poker very interesting ^^ but for cash tables i only play hold em cause im the most comfortable there

Quite the opposite for me here. Played Stud, Omaha, 5 Card well before NLHE. That was back in the day before computers. My favorite game is Gin Rummy...NLHE is down the list...not really one of my favs.

First of all, before starting the game you need to read a lot about the game, watch trainning videos, and than start to play freerolls and play money until you find the soul of the game. After all that go to real money tables.Good luck

i play all variants...but as most no limit holdem is my main game...
It seems all pro's play all games or at least know how to play it..and if you wanna compete with the best ,,all knowledge in your basket is good for understanding all games better..
on pokerstars there's freerolls for most variants..so you can learn there..

Posted by jessthehuman: I play 99% NL Holdem. I can play a couple other variants, but I rarely play them.
G'day mate
I am totally in agreement with Jess on this issue. I too play 99% No Limit Texas Holdem. I can play almost every variant of poker but I just prefer No Limit and when you play for money you stick to your best game. It is just good business.

I play mostly Omaha and Omaha h/l Its not hard to learn. Only a minute to get the basics and you are good to go. There are more things you have to consider though than playing Holdem. Many players are profited in a specific game, so try and find yours.gl

A good way to do this bubblegum is to play those freerolls at pokerstars.. some are mixgames others are from other poker games.. even tho most of the times what you see there can't really be considered "poker" .. it is the cheapest way to play other games to have a first impression of the games and if it would be worth to invest in them.
The easiest games to understand at a begginer level compared to NL are obv PLO, PLO H/L and Stud. 2-7 and Razz are quite different imo but not that hard to get a grasp at (talking about begginer level).
Ohama tbh seems to be much funnier to play than NL.. you can play more hands, see more flops and odds play a more relevant part of the game.

Thank you for all the replies guys! I think I should build a good bankroll by playing what I know at the moment and after I do that, I'll probably give Omaha a try, but of course after reading about it and watching some pros playing it on youtube. Cheers!

I play NLHE and also Omaha hi and omaha Hi/lo, I used to play stud in the past
The main thing about omaha --> it s a postflop game , where you get much info about the cards on the table (flop, turn, river)
put your money on the table when you have the nuts, be careful when you have something less than the nuts.... this means --> when you have a str (preferable highest one), watch out for flush (3 of the same color on the table) or a full house (pair on the table)
same for flush (prefarable ace-high) --> watch out for FH and also for the possibility of a str flush
Same for omaha hi/lo --> when you have the low, be aware that in multiple pots you can get a split pot for the low and loose money with that...
Also notitions of your opponent will help you a lot when playing Hi/lo , there are a lot of players that play or raise with A2 in their hand

i enjoy playing omaha hi/lo mostly, know how to play every stars format- and know how to lose on each and every one of them...ooooh the pain...i'd say those lesser poker forms do offer some +EV spots from time to time comparing with texas, since there is a never ending influx of morons who have no idea how those games should be played (but this is true only @lower limits...)

Cool. Cool, cool, cool. How about 5 Card Draw? Nobody said anything about that game? My dad taught me this game when I was very young and I played it for money only a few times back in highschool and for basketball cards when I was much younger lol. It's a nice game, but it's more luck than knowledge. Does any of you play 5 Card Draw online, for real money?
