The BIG GAME TV Show  0
Hey guys,....what ever happened to that TV show by PokerStars called The BIG GAME,....where they had a series of freerolls you had to get through,....4 in a row actually,....and if you got through to the 4th,...then submitted a short video of yourself,....they put you in the casting pool to possibly be picked from for a seat on the show.

Do you know the one I mean,... It's the one where you would be the loose cannon at the table of 6 players, 5 of them pros like Negraneau, Brunson, Esfandiari,...etc.... They staked you the $100,000 buy in and played 150 hands over 5 episodes. if you lost all the cash,...you were gone... If you went the distance and came out above the $100,000,...you kept the balance. Out of all the contestants,...the highest would also get a paid seat at WPT tour events...

So I placed in all 4 tourneys,...submitted my video,...and received my letter of ackowledgement...

THEN,....the whole thing just collapsed along with the big poker fiasco in the U.S. never to resume...!

Did anyone else here qualify for the casting pool,....and what ever happened...? Confused

Pretty sure it stopped when Black Friday happened.

Yeah, from what I understand season two almost didn't happen because of Black Friday, so when they decided to do it anyways season three was for sure a NOGO. Too bad, I thought the format was interesting and watched most of the episodes.

Yeah - I'm really not into watching poker on TV at all, but I did watch a few episodes of TBG and found it pretty entertaining (at least as something to watch at work haha).

I'm wondering why they would have ended that show,...after all, it had nothing to do with wagering money online,...nor with any of the shady poker comapnies in question. It was a popular show. I liked watching it and rooting for the loose cannons... Fun to watch one of those guys take pots from the pros. There was one show there where one of the cannons was just cleaning house.... Mopping the floor with those guys!!!

I really would like to have had the opportunity to be selected, and have the chance to relieve some of those big shots of their money...! lol... if not just for the free trip to, and accomodations in, Vegas!

Together with my superior poker intellect,....and my Fabio-esque good looks,....I should have been a shoe-in..... lol.... Big Smile

I think you just got to be the bubble in all that situation. I know the show that you refer to, although it didn't pass on portuguese TV (only cable). It was very nice, but with the Balck Friday thing, all of that must have passed to second plan.

It's to bad that ended because it was catchy and would be nice to see it come back. Although U.S. citizens play on PS any longer I still think the gig could start back up and make a go of it. There's still enough players today to have this re-implemented.

Write em demo and suggest it!

Now THERE's an idea,.... I WILL do that....

There were also a few other good shows on NBC or FOX where they'd tell a secret password somewhere during the show, then you'd enter that in the special freeroll on PS and get in and could win some serious cash too....

....them all out the window also after the fiasco..... Enjoyed them too...

Not a massive fan of TV poker, but the big game was pretty entertaining.

Did you ever see "I Bet You" with Antonio Esfandiari?

Never heard of that show....

One thing PokerStars DID do though after that show was cancelled, was issue all the folks in the casting pool 3 tickets to 3 'special' freerolls. I don't remember how much was the pool in each of them,...but I DO remember it not being very much and that they could have coughed up more that that! I think they were for like 500 each,....which is pretty cheap of PS considering....
