Having a little break!  0
Hey all.
So I've decided to have a mini break from poker. I've been running terribly lately. I haven't had a winning session on the zoom table for quite a bit and as a result my bankroll has dipped under $ 200 for the first time.
I only played once yesterday and that was a $1 sat into a $109 tourney. That pretty much went the same way as my cash sessions ( shockingly) bad beat after suckout after bad beat.
I dunno how long my break will be, just depends how I feel and when I get my enthusiasm back.
I might pop on the forum from time to time but if not good luck on the felts and take care Big Smile Thumbs Up

I also take breaks when I lose a lot, because I get frustrated and I lose even more. It depens on how I feel, usually I take a break of 1-2 days, but if I really don't feel like playing, if I'm not 100% in the mood I might take longer breaks. I also take breaks when I don't have money lol, but right now I'm doing just fine. Good luck mate! Smile

this may sound like a real bad poker mind but follow me for a minite having monster cards doesn't mean when u lose u had a bad beat ease it out is the flop no good then don't play for example even if you have A Spade K Spade
if you go all in pre flop and the flop is 2 Heart 6 Spade 8 Heart then ur already out of luck u might think u have AK but even if your oppenent has 5 Heart 6 Heart he's already ahead even if the river and the turn show A K if one of them is Heart your got beaten not by a bad beat but just a simple flush you may have had the better hand pr flop but poker is played with 7 cards not 2 ^^ don't look at the two cards in your hand but also the flop on the table few days ago my ace ace got beaten brutally by a 66 wit a j8j46 flop river turn if i hadn't gone all in i wouldve folded on the jacks even though he didn't have them in the end the risk wouldve been way to great when u have pocket pairs even AA it still leaves you wide open cuase you only have 2 real outs ofc you could hit flush or straight but thats very lucky my point even if you have the best hand in the beginning its total crap without the right flop Big Smile

just be cool and don't go mad especially on zoom cause 60% of the players there doesn 't play anything lower then K10

I sometimes also think about taking a break, specially after a really really bad session. Usually it doesn't take more then a day for me to be back trying my luck thou. My bankroll is relatively small so a downswing ( even a $3 or $4 dollar one ) makes it frustrating to be playing only 2 or 3 hours a day.
I came to terms with it somehow and when losing i close the program, go smoke a cig in the balcony and after i'm already looking forward for the next day to start anew.

It's ok to take a break. Acctually you should take a break once in a while at poker. It's not recomended to play all the time. I'm getting more and more crazy when playing too much Big Smile Then suddenly throwing money away Smile

I don´t have all the time i would like to play poker, so even when i don't want to, i happen to stop for a while from session to session. During this month i can't complain, i'm having a great time playing at FTP and i went there almost in every two days, which is great for me. The cashier is having some ups and downs but i'm handling it nice. But i think 2 or three days is the best to relax from the scene, for those who happen to go there every days.

I still say to visit BRM is a good way to keep your head in it. I know breaks from the table are essential, but when "Black Friday" fell upon us I didn't post for quite some time.

The Mobsters are the people who gotme back into the groove of playing and actually improving to the degree that I don't have to deposit any longer.

No matter what you do Good Luck!

Ya,....when poker starts to get the better of you,....it's best to take a little break. If you just keep playing while still suffering from some bad games,....it just carries on it seems and you lose even MORE money!

I usually will try playing through,...but if I then get a REALLY bad beat,....I heed the message from the poker gods...

It's amazing though how it all goes away if you just stay away for a day...

...a little time heals all bad memories.... Smile

Thats a good thing taking that break, since you see it doesnt lead anywhere good at the moment.
Take the time to relax from it and when you feel confident again come and share some great results
with us.

If not i wish you all the best in your life. Thumbs Up

My advice would definately be to take couple of days off poker for sure Blink

I think if you recognize a downswing and you continue to play it only means that you are an degen gambler. You'll inevitable lose all your br very shortly.

good idea- save your energy for BRM Easter home game: you'll come into this fresh and crush everyone for sure...guess i have only way to win the 1st place- kick you out of the rigged place due to the fact that you aren't "rigged enough"...

I have to agree with this comment.

Tip : if you play fast forward, zoom etc --> if possible play suited connectors as cheap as possible... if you hit a str or flush it can be very profitable ... if you don t hit on the fl;op just fold.

Also stealing blinds when your in late position (with reasonable hands) can be profitable

I chose "No. I just play through the downswing". Because it doesnt matter if you will wait hours or days, it doesnt influent which cards you will get at the table Smile It can only help in psychological way, like to calm down or think positive, but I dont need it. I am OK after few minutes after suckouts from tournaments.. Smile Well trained I guess Big Smile

I have to take breaks due to work committments....otherwise I could find myself playing everyday. I have taken enforced breaks due to crap play and results at times, but come back and its just as bad. Take the rough with the smooth and keep on trucking.

I do appreciate these comments as you guys are trying to help but I did say I was getting bad beats not playing bad.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I don't play hands badly because sometimes I do but it's the ones I play great but the board helps the other guy out when I have him crushed that gets me really frustrated and it's been happening way to often lately. So that's why I'm having a break. To stop me getting so frustrated with the game and ending up losing my full bankroll by starting to play to high a stake Big Smile
Good luck all

I saw that you had posted something in your thread in the last few minutes since I went outside for a smoke,... i automatically thought you were either up at 2:30am playing poker,...or couldn't sleep because poker has gotten you rattled...

Go to bed dude... Smile
