Nl4 would be fine, IMHO if you're playing micro stakes, you shouldn't worry too much about having a huge amount of buyins.. I think for anything up to nl25, playing with 10-15 BI is fine, maybe 25 at max.. So long as you're a decent player, you should be more concerned with moving up the stakes, because generally the rake (%) is super super high for micro stakes, so you're better off quickly getting up to .10/.25 & .25/.50 games.

The thing is with micro stakes, if you do suffer a massive downswing and lose 10BI or whatever, realistically it is only $40 or so, so it's not going to send you into financial ruin.

For me anyway, I rather focus on building a bigger roll with an aggressive BRM strategy and then once you're at a limit that you're happy to stick with for a while (say nl .25/.50), then nit it up a bit and start using a 50-60BI rule instead, increasing the amount of BIs you play with, as you get to higher and higher stakes and your BR starts to mean more and more, especially once losing your bankroll starts to constitute losing a significant amount of your personal net worth!

Also - regarding Omaha - if you're playing PLO (not sure if you mean limit omaha or pot-limit) you need to have many more BIs than holdem.. PLO is a notoriously swingy game and I think even for micro stakes, it would be prudent to have at least 50BI.

I would recommend you to keep playing ant NL2 till you got at least40 buy-ins for NL4 ($160). It is a more conservative bankroll managment but as you have just realized you can lose 18 bucks in session (with means 9 buy-in to you). So you might lose more than one third of your bank in a single ssesion.
Play with a enough bank for each level to play with more confidence and not with "scare" money.

Thumbs Up

Keep playing the same. I don't believe that if you go lower on the level you will turn your game better because there's a lot more crazy players on the tables, and you aren't confident enough to go higher, being losing... so keep on the same game, things will become to rise again, you'll see!!!

I would move to NL4 if you play no limit holdem, as for the downswing you had this morning i think that you should also have a limit of how much buy ins you can lose in a session.

If you play more pl then it definately is not a problem to play PL4, it's easier to control the pot Smile

Yes NL4 is better for no limit holdem Smile

seems like classic downswing.. not even the best players can win always Smile Everybody in pokerr have bad sessions Smile If you feel really bad about it, just take a pause few hours or days. And start to play when you will be relaxed again Smile good luck
