You Would Call With......NOTHING Dude...?....REALLY???  0
THANKS Dunce...!!!

I've had this happen to me twice in the last few days...

You're playing your hand out right down to the river trying to fill out your straight or flush draw....

...you get to the river and miss...

..you've got some serious money invested in the hand because you've been trying to push folks off the pot....

River card come down and you miss Confused ...

So you decide to throw down a fairly hefty bet and bluff your out.... Evil

You've got absolutely NOTHING,...maybe J or Q,......sometimes only like a NINE high,....

...and they CALL............with NOTHING,.....NOTHING AT ALL!!!!!

Now,...you expect this sort of thing in like,....A BANKROLLMOB tourney full of Vladimir wannabees,......but certainly NOT in a game that costs money to enter....

...and ESPECIALLY from a German..... I thought they were an INTELLIGENT gene pool.... Confused

I had Q high in a hand in the $1.10 this morning,....and he CALLS!!!! With NOTHING!!!!????

...not even a bluffcatcher!!!

I win the hand....

I KNOW they had nothing,.....because I had nothing.....lol...

Ever happen to any of you guys...??? Big Smile

G'day mate

You know darn well it happens to us all every single day online.
Many people have never learned it is ok to fold.
Just look at all the suckouts which happen because idiots always chase to the river and get rewarded for there bad play. You are just chatting about more bad play trying to get rewarded.
Which lucky for you, this time it was you bad play that got rewarded Smile

Be cool mate and best of luck to you.

Ronin Cool

Have you ever played Badugi?
You get dealt badugi, 7 high (3 draws badugi) you stand pat, you bet the max cause its limit
and you get a caller who discards 3.
You stand bet he calls, discards 2 on second one.
You stand bet he calls, discards 2 on third one.
You bet, he is reraising you reraise the hand to the max and you lose by 6 high.
Try this twice same tournament from same player Smile

I should have been a little more clearer in my description. I had a Q high flush draw,...AND an open ended straight draw,....and the dunce in question had been playing REALLY bad,....so I gambled and went for it.

I did win the hand,...but ONLY with Q high,....which means the DUNCE called with LESS than Q high...telling me that he CALLED with nothing...

WHAT in the world are these people thinking they can win a hand with J high or less...??? Confused

IDIOTS I tells ya,....IDIOTS!!! lol...

Well, sometimes i know i'm beat it, but i still call, coz i wanna see his hand.
Sometimes i call, coz i feel he/her doesn't have anything, but with A or K high. But that depends of the raise...
Also ppl may call you, coz you're a tight player and if the board is full of crap..they will call you with a small pair.

About stupid people...world is full of them. Sometimes i think that God loves stupid people, coz He makes a lot of them...

I have occasionally called with next to nothing, if i'm absolutely convinced they are bluffing. Take for instance there is a decent amount of raising preflop and the flop comes 7h 5h 5c. Utg bets out a very small bet and everyone else folds. I'm gonna call with ace high. The turn is Qc and again comes a tiny bet. I consider raising but I'm not convinced this person is a capable of folding a drawing hand. The river comes 2s and suddenly there is a very large bet, say 70% of the pot. Now this 2 has changed nothing so I'm pretty sure in this imaginary case that the guy has nothing so I'd call with A high, maybe even K high if I had history with this guy. If the turn bet had been different I could put him on the queen but this screams of "I've missed and I don't want a call".

Sometimes players will call with even worse simply to see the hand, if they are so certain that you have junk, and sometimes they get the idea in their minds so fixed that they forget they need a hand to call a bluff. The fact is that if you are getting your bluffs called, even by worse hands, it probably means it's obvious when your bluffing, which is actually bad for your poker in the long term. I mean it must be obvious you are chasing a draw or you are betting out on an obvious blank. They might also see you bluff a lot and then call with junk.

I'd also point out that in your examples you say you might only have 9 high on the river. This immediately tells me you chase the wrong draws. You should never be betting that much to hit a nine high flush, it's too dangerous. If the flop has two cards under 9 what can your opponent hit to go all-in on except a higher flush draw or maybe two pair or trips, in which case they can hit a full house. If you have a straight draw alone you're not really odds on to hit unless there are others calling and you have added value or you are betting to finish the hand in a semi-bluff. You are also probably calling too loose preflop if you find yourself out of position with J high.

I would take a guess that the Q high hand you had this morning could have been up against another queen with a lower kicker or a jack, and he called after seeing you chasing straight draws out of position. Or maybe he was just an idiot who misread his hand. Who knows.

I should have copied and saved the hand...... I most often forget to do that.

For me,...if I have a hand that has a great deal of potential,...position matters not to me...

Generally though,...if I don't hit, connect, or improve the chances on the flop,....I won't chase things after that. It can be very pricy to see each successive card, and/or become a very expensive loss.

...and a big bluffer I'm not. Seldom do I bluff. I should though try to bluff a little more often. It can certainly increase your stack considerably.

I figure buddy was just a dummy chasing who knows what....lol...

sounds like you're getting mind raped.. You will actually find the higher the stakes you go, the more often people will call your river-bluff shoves on missed draws, with essentially nothing (Ace or King high).

How true! I've seen,...AND experienced that!

Alternatively you could look at it this way.

Your opponent had assessed quite correctly that you were still trying to draw a winning hand and therefore had nothing else than a high card. He may have been doing the same and assessed that at the end you were calling with nothing against his nothing so it was high card v high card. He probably thought his J might have been enough ( dependant on the draw he and you were trying to make) in which case his call isn't that bad, as he had invested the same as you so why not give it a go, especially as he thought he had you beat?

I'm not saying its absolutely right, but just a thought of how some people like to play.

i have to agree with the person above he made the same decision as you as i understand you both in the end had nothing i don't quite make it who won but as the edit says that you did? if this is a tourney and more then 60 a 70% of the stack is in the game most don't even bother and take the risk
if they fail they try again in a new one also in sng mtt's people call twice as much as at big tournament/cash games take this with you try most playable hands utg or cut off most rewardable
but im just a guy who plays freerolls sng mtt's and cash games and never win Tongue but i know how to play patience is my biggest weakness i somehow it think im superior to everyone and the table and think i can bluff / trap em easily and get over confidant that's my biggest problem Tongue
E.G brm freeroll i play out donks in 7 hand have 9000 chips+ kill antother one 10k+ but after doing that my raises went to high i would raise 3 people on the flop with a j3 flop 7J9 2 spades i have Diamond
and then raise em 2000 for a pot of 300 after people folded a few times they start calling in the end bluffing knocked me out or it makes you to the money you can't win a tournament without bluffing once or twice (unless the cards are in your favor Big Smile)

anyway i could go on like that all day (maybe i should write books>>>???)

its my birthday and i decided ima play bingo online instead of poker because poker ive lost over 100 dollar and bingo i have won over 200 Big Smile Big Smile

like ronin says be cool and gl at the tables im of to bingo ^^

Sometimes I see it happening at the ring tables where I play at FTP, and it makes me a bit of confusion, but that’s just the way some players do their game. Those type of players know just as much as you, and they give the call because they know you also don’t have nothing and you’re bluffin, they just want to see with what cards were you bluffin. It’s like being the raiser of a pot, beting low at every moments and having someone calling us. We still don’t have nothing, but after the river we decide to make a bigger bet just to make our opponent drop his hand. He must understand we also don’t have nothing, just like him, but with this move we give him the intention of saying that, still, we have better hand and we deserve the pot. Sometimes it’s just bluff, but that will depend on how our opponent will react…

hello, what you are describing never happend to me. To me happens something else.
"You have a straight draw or a flush draw and when I hit the card I need on the river, the other one has a full-house. Or a other situation: I have a pair of Kings preflop and rais. The flop is something good for me (like 2,7,4, with no chance of a flush draw), I bet , he calls, the turn again a good card like 10 I bet again, he calls and on the river it is again a 4, he goes all-in and has tree of a kind 4s because he had 4 6 on the hand preflop. and called all the crap.
This are situations to get crazy. I invested a lot of money in such a hand and then loss against such a donkey
