I cannot make up my mind if I want to play 6 max or full ring.
Which do you prefer and why? Would you choose because if fits your playing style or would you choose one of the two and adjust your playing style to it?

I like playing both depending on what mood I am in. Simple, Less players more aggression, more players more tight. I like playing 2/5 cent 6 player cap cash games on FTP. I play tight, but my hand ranges widen and i start playing hands like KJ suited out of position, or A10o.

Well there's a bit of difference between 6-max and full ring. Usually in 6 max, you need to play a bit looser. As well, you want to look at more opportunites to pick up unopened pots more, because the blinds hit you a lot faster.
Draw type hands like Suited/connectors also lose a bit of value, due to your lowered implied odds as well as pot odds, so it pays to be a little more careful when limp/calling, especially if out of position.
So it all comes down to style of play. If you're more aggressive, I'd say 6max is more up your alley. If you prefer to nit it up/set mine etc, then full ring is more suited for you.

It really depends on what do you want to play and also if you are a beginner or a more experienced player.
You need to know that on FR many time the game it's a bit more straight forward plus you don't need to play as many hands as on SH. On SH on the other hand you need to bluff and know when you are bluffed so thats why you need a bit of experience

I've discovered I like the 6-max in Full Tilt because if I'm in the mood for a quickie,...it hits the spot.
I play fairly tight and I find playing like that at a table full of aggressive players allows me to sit back and let them all knock each other out,....THEN loosen up a bit and go after what's left.

these 2 people totally contradict eachother xD
Erm, No they don't They are both saying that on 6 max you need to be more aggressive and on full ring you need to be tighter.

If you are a tight player, you will have more difficulties to play well in 6-max because opponents tend to read you faster. I apply this rule for every types of games, ring or MTT. When playing ring, I prefer full ring because I increase my chances seeing more hands without paying that much blinds. That doesn’t gives a player any guarantees, but I think it’s easy to play with position in this case too.
I like what he has to say about it, e.g. that learning 6-max will enable you to play 10-max as well, while the reverse is not necessarily the case...
I can recommend the book; if my cash results graph is to be believed, it turned me from slightly below break even, to about 15bb/100 in NL2 cash on full tilt.

Good question. I like to play both and I dont think I am worse or better in any.
But generally I think, full ring is better for more tight players. In 6max you should play a little bit more loose, but thats just a little bit difference for me. I play a little more often suited connectors or somthing like K,10s than in full ring. And a little more stealing blinds I guess

hello, most of the time I play full ring, there you can relax a bit, play tight and wait for the good hands to play. But sometimes I also play 6max with lower limits, because there you can be more aggressiv and you can have more action. But this is my point of view. I think that everybody should decide for himself which play he or she prefers. good luck to all, no matter how much opponents you have on your table

Thanks guys for sharing your thoughts.
G'day mate I prefer a full 9 man table to play poker on myself. I like to have time to sit back and wait for decent playable hands without having to constantly worry about paying the damn blinds over and over while I just bleed chips away when I am card dead.

Hmm i think the full ring is more attractive than 6max cuz if you get the nuts then you can win more cash and if you don't have too much money you can play more hands than the 6max cuz you will pay 1.5BB at every 9 hands ... at 6max you pay 1.5BB at every 6 hands ...

I guess it all comes down to your own playing style and then choose the game that goes along with it.
But that's a bit a a problem for me because I like to play more tight (not extremely though) than loose but I like to play more advanced poker too than just waiting for a monster to come by. So my natural style would be more fitted for full ring but I love the dynamics or 6max
Anyway, thanks for all the replies guys. I appreciate it!

It surely depends on what your playing style is ! at the start i played fullring but later on i switched to 6 max ... nowadays i am more inclined to 6 max !! if u are aggressive player then 6 max it is !! in 6 max you need to more aggressive and loosen up a bit at times so as to avoid bleeding chips as the blinds hit you faster than the fullring .its upto you to decide which suits you better .

I prefer 6 max because you get to see more hands per hour, and you get to play faster than in full ring. full ring is a slower pace and it's not good for me since i like to get involved in more pots, and when you're UTG , UTG +1, UTG +2 you need to tighten up your game and sit back more. i suffer from the affliction known as FPS and when i get bored (9 handed + a dry run of cards = me doing things i shouldn't) i get into trouble. i also think that getting used to playing faster will make you a better player...
