Betfair's poker platform looks set to receive a host of new players following the purchase of Blue Square. Despite Blue Square having lost £4.8 million in the last six months, Betfair has recently completed a £5 million purchase of the company and will now control both its sportsbook and poker database. The transition was initiated yesterday and all new players will now have their poker balances moved across to Betfair's client. Users will initially be given the option to withdraw their funds or accept a new welcome bonus and continue playing under their previous online alias. In total, approximately 120,000 former Blue Square members will be affected by the move, meaning Betfair's playerpool could see a sizeable increase in the coming weeks.
