So we've all been there,.....deep into the game, whether in the money yet or not,....and you have less chips than the big blind,....and it's comin' you way fast....
Of course, if you get a nice pocket like high pairs or AK or KQ or something like that,...you're gonna shove and hopefully save your ass...
...BUT.... if ya keep getting junk,...what would YOU do....?
...I tend to take Gavin Smith's advice (comment below) and just let the blind come to you and see what happens...
Most of the time, the blind will eat you for lunch,..... but a few times I've done just that,...let it come, and at the last minute get AA or something strong,....but in SOME cases,...like The Big $4>40 game I was in the other day... along came the blind,....opened up its big hungry mandible,....ate my chips,....and low and behold,....it PUKED back up my chips and all the other folks' chips in the hand, plus all the antes, right back at me.....after I took the hand with absolute JUNK ...which was followed by the usual 'nh'...'wow'....'crazy'...from the other players...
I just continued getting junk....junk...junk....junk.... here comes the blind again....I'm gonna die here.,...
BUT,...it happens again..... I get a junk pocket,...blind takes my chips,....I win....
It did that 4 or 5 times,....around the board,...blind comes,...I win with junk....
Everybody was SHOCKED!!!
Makes me think maybe those crazy Russians know something I don't....they keep winning their little bingo games with JUNK!!!
Anyhow,....I saw an interview with Gavin Smith (Canadian poker pro) recently where he said just that,....let the blind come to you and see what happens,....if you try to force the issue or bluff,...you WILL die...

I was going to say the same, you really shouldn't be letting it get that bad. However I have done the same you know you should push any 2 but you look down at 72o then 83o etc etc so you wait and wait. I think once you are down to 2 or 3 BB what you say is probably not a bad strategy if you are very close to the money or close to a big prize step. I have seen quite a few times the situation you describe happen. Then 2 medium stacks go to war and a player goes. I have seen players float into quite healthy prize pay outs that way. I have also seen people all in their way to a decent stack starting with crap. I guess at the end of the day if its going be your lucky day its going be your lucky day!

Yeah, I think it's better to shove almost any 2, and risk getting called and flipping. By passively sitting around waiting for a good hand, you're bleeding chips away. Better to just take the risk, than to watch helplessly as your stack gets lower and lower.

Well sometimes it depends. If you have less than a BB and the chips you will get will put you all in again when the BB comes to you, why risking it twice with absolutely nothing? If thats the story i wait for the BB And sometimes i get lucky.

When my stack is dwindling down and I am getting nothing but junk, I prefer to go all in on my big blind with at least 2.5/3 blinds. Often I will be at a disadvantage, but at least if I hit and double up my stack will have a little more oomph to it than if I double up with only one blind in the pot.

G'day mate
Well I must say I personally hate being in that position. Have unfortunately been there many times. lets us hope that we all have better luck in the future.
This reminds me of the times when there is a sit out that just won't go away. Every time the binds come around, they win, they're in hard to kill mode.
