Hey all i was wondering.... maybe its just my superstition but i always play a suited J-5 (jackson 5), especially when they are spades i am willing to put in lots-o-chips,while there is no logic behind at all. (A straight is impossible and a pair of jacks is just mediocre,a flush is possible ofc but jack high leaves 3 over cards)its just that i always have a good feeling about this hand.
Brunson has the 10-2 and actually won the WSOP twice with it , that made me curious , is it just me that plays a not so good hand having faith it will come out right (it does regularly), or are there more mobbsters who have a (favourite) hand and whats theire logic behind it if there is one.....?
May the pokergods be with you,

i have a couple of them: back in the days when i was playing a few smaller sites (there were 1 table sng's with 3 places paid) i noticed that i was winning a lot of hands with 36o and 26o. very strange really, even more strange that is was off suit that delivered the results...so i have fond memories of those hands even now...

Years ago when I first started playing poker (for play chips) I used to 'like' K10, but I didn't really over-play it or anything, I just 'kinda' liked it. I haven't had a favourite hand or anything like that for years though. And I absolutely don't involve superstition into my game:
For example, playing J5 because you got dealt it on all 4 tables at once, or 8K because last three times you folded it you would have flopped a fullhouse, or any other stupid s**t like that.. all bad ideas.

I used to have a thing about any old Q4 which always seemed to come up trumps for me and have to say that on occasion when I am in a pot with it, ie limped to me in BB , then the lady still does me well.
Well, i think poker is not just about odds and good smarts, since its both a game of skill AND chance, sometimes a gut feeling about the outcome shouldnt be ignored ......

Now that you mention it,.... I'll opt for A A because it reminds me of a couple Wizards... and as you know,.... 2 aces can work MAGIC for your stack.... lol...
Now,...if you had K K in your pocket,...and got one on the flop,...you'd have K K K or 3 Kings,...or what I nickname 'The Magi' hand.... And yes,...they will come bearing gifts to you most often...

I actually do play a hand where in most cases I would not and it's usually only one suit. I play the 4,5 of diamonds more times then I should, but more times then I should, I come out ahead when playing the hand. Don't really play this in any other flavor and don't know why I'm attracted to such a lame hand.

G'day mate
well since you asked the answer is yes. There was a time when I always played any Ace 8 the dead man's hand. It was a major leak in my game that cost me alot of money before I finally took me head out of my a$$ and forced myself to see the truth about what I was doing and why. If you are playing Jack 5 for that reason then you need to fix a leak in your game and i know it is costing you money.
I always liked 89s. But there's a rational explanation to it. You're usually live, all you need to worry about is being against an overpair and even then it's still a great hand to suck out. But there's always a risk of hitting a flush and original raiser has better flush. That's what makes suited connectors dangerous even if you're very good at playing them.
Still, you shouldn't call a raise out of position when you know you don't have the best hand pre flop...
Thanks for all the reply's , its nice to see so many mobbsters so open about theire own playing. It seems some of us do have a non logic hand they play even when the odds are against it,but like i said earlier poker (in my humble ignorant opinion) is a game of skill AND chance, i meen pocket rockets (AA) is still just a pair, that can be beaten by any trips. As for superstition i dont believe in psychic mumbo jumbo normally but the j-5 just feels good to me,same as other hands do for some in this thread.
Today is the 13th a good day to play poker, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (theatrical evil laugh)

I personally like 4/4. I once got a fortune out of a machine when I was in highschool and my lucky number is 4. I also like 9/9 as I feel like I have 9 lives at times!!!
