So I am once again wishing that this site and our forum in particular had a live chat room feature. I used to really love the 80's and early 90's because I so enjoyed logging onto the old BBS sites and going into their live chat rooms and just talking with my fellow Bulletin Board Members about anything and everything under the sun. I truly miss them chat room days. I know a chat room on BRM would be a HUGE success! Anyone know how we might convince the admin to implement a chat room feature.
I think mobsters would even be willing to pay a daily mob point fee to use such a service feature. I know that I would gladly pay a 5 or 10 point mob point fee to use a chat for for a day. I am sure many mobsters would as long as the fee was reasonable.

It would just be another way for people whos names i won't mention to attack people like me. It won't happen because admin would have too much on their hands because of this fact.

Great idea Ronin, but think Admin will struggle with the moderating of it and therefore that may prevent it getting up and running. isnt it a shame that grown people (adults) (LOL) have to have their conversations overseen by others so that they dont get away with abuse!

Actuallly, this is a great idea. I like it very much. I hope the admin will think about it. Bacause writing posts is more difficult, than chatting. So, if we have questions, we can receive fast answers by chatting.
If I play an important tournament and if I don't how to react to go all in or to fold, I can ask some mobsters with chat what to do.
So, let's see. What will happen. Good luck at the tables!

Yes, that's something that would be fun. To discuss live events, topics, etc. with players / people from around the world would be a nice plus for the site, but probably a lot of support. I'm not sure what it would take!

BTW I have x box 360 live, this allows you to chat world wide for free with, only thing is you got to pay like a $60 yearly member ship for x box live, but if your a gamer it is worth it, and the perks are awesome I mean no long distance charges or extra fees just a one time yearly fee and your able to communicate with and body from any where its awesome guy's

Great Idea Ronin,
Another possibillity is just to open a chat room ourselves, its fairly easy on sites as Chatzy to open a free chatroom. U be able to log in with a pasword and give ur own rules and restrictions, besides that its absolutly for FREE. Really think this is a brilliant idea and we should do something with it.

For free and it costs $60 dolars a year........ bit strange MiLady.... Like a freeroll with an entrence fee....haha

The idea for the live chat has been discussed in the past and it is a no go. And the negative things about it are mentioned above, with the most important that there is no way of supervising it.

yeah that idea has been on offer several times, but with the same outcome. reasons are more or less clear (& several mobsters pointed the out above) so i think the best offer is by mies730: it would be a workaround basically- but would cater for those in need of a live-chat.

It would be such a great thing...I mean it`s so easy to comunicate and find new friends that love poker if you have a chat...it would be really good....sadly it`s kind of a big implement to a forum so it could be hard to add...

I would have thought it would be very easy to add a chat room. It is old 80's BBS tech after all. I think the hardest part would be keeping the chat room monitored for inappropriate content dialog. Be that I mean keeping people from getting into heated arguments and spewing out extremely negative, hurtful, or racist comments. A chat room would most likely require a few mobsters to step up and volunteer to act as moderators to just sit back and watch conversations to insure they are kept relative civil. If it was the deciding factor between having a chat room and not having one then I would step up and act as a moderator for several hours everyday. I know I would be online chatting anyway so why not help keep the room a positive place.

as i mentioned on a thread i posted earlier today, another way of chatting without any problems and also is free is through the "riggedplace"... this would also be good to have friendly small buy-in games and 2nl ring game table also can be used to chat with each other,
we would just need a ring game table set up..
thats my 2 cents....
besides, the riggeplace is gonna collect dust, we should use it once a week, or something,... possible build up our own pot over time... i think that would be nice for us mobsters... and also build good poker relations with each other....

gonna open one in a few min- do hop there from time to time or else system will close it automatically, in that case i will re-open it only when i log in.
