This morning I decided to play the "Monster rebuy to the BLT" tournament. The buyin was just 3 FTP, and even though it was already at level 18 (blinds at 800/1600), I thought, what the hell, at level 24 the rebuy period will be over and I'll get the add-on for 30000 chips, maybe I'll get lucky...
And I did get lucky, just 66 hands later, in just over 1 hour, I won the $2.20 ticket for the "Big little tournament". I did not even rebuy once.
I won almost every hand I played (just 10 in total), pushing/folding almost every time, and just waiting for other players to knock eachother out when I had enough chips to fold into the money...
Not a big prize, I know, but I thought it was a pretty funny "chip and a chair" story...
------------ Lucky day indeed (maybe because the coronation/queens day put me in a good mood), just finished 3rd (out of 438) in the Netherlands $100 freeroll as well, for $9.
Also made $4+ playing cash today.
Ever since I started playing cash games at the start of this year, my MTT results were slightly dwindling... Funny that it picks up after a bad week at the cash tables (apart from today that is). Maybe it's mutually exclusive...?

Now on another note: DON'T EVER MIX MTT/SNG/CASH ON THE SAME DAY!! The reason? Well, they're just so different. It will just cause you to make the wrong decisions in the long run. That's probably why your MTT results have been on a downswing. Stick to one type of game at one day and then switch the next day if you want variation.

Apart from yesterday, I indeed did not have much success with both cash and MTT on the same day, it seems. I hope it's not really true though, because it's so convenient to play cash in between MTTs, since there is no waiting involved...
Can anyone else corroborate this mutual exclusiveness between cash and MTTs?

hmmmmmm... Im not sure if I agree with erru's advice ..Sometimes when im playing only one / two tournaments I also open a few cash tables too .... It somehow helps me stay focused ...
But yes I know what he's up to ... They really are very different formats...

I quite disagree, trying to switch mindframe between different trypes of tournoments is very very difficult. My results have always been at least 3x better when i focus on one form of poker.
Its fair enough if your super humanly good at poker, but many of us arn't.
In your case djpremier, it sounds like a lack of concentration and getting bored. Which is a bad justification for playing more tables.
In either case, this is why i love poker. Incredibly opinionated .

Dont know if its good or not but i always like to play a few tourneys at the same time i play cash games.I will usually play omaha hi or omaha hi lo cash games 2-4 tables. Then i play a few low buy-in NLHE tourneys on the side or sometimes SNG's I dont find it hard to play different games at the same time but off course you will loose some "reading" opportunities when you play more tables and even more when you also play different games...but i like it like that
That's good for you my friend. I usually don't like to buy-in a tourney that is already started for a while but I got to admit that it could be payfull. Getting on table where some players are already on tilt and playing a nice tight game is woth it ( with the right amount of luck)

Thanks... I usually like to play any tournament from the start, it's just that the add-on for 30000 looked like it could save me if I just managed to double up a few times before then. In this case I managed to get to well over 100000 chips before the add-on.
Total cost was 6 FTP however (3 for the buyin and 3 for the add-on). And I played this tournament once before (from the start) a few weeks ago but got nowhere, spending 12 FTP on that one...
