America's first fully licensed online poker room opened for real money games earlier today in the state of Nevada.
Following recent legislation by the state, Ultimate Poker (not connected to Ultimate Bet) has made their first move into the US market.
Owned by Ultimate Gaming, which is operated by the same people behind the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the new site will only be accessible to Nevada residents over the age of 21.
The landmark day has dubbed "trusting Tuesday" by Ultimate Gaming's CEO, Tobin Prior, on account of the new laws ensuring that a player's money is safe at all times.
The launch means that Nevada has won the race to open a real money poker site in the US, however, with more sites and states poised to do the same, this should be the first in a succession of developments.

just wonder what sort of ultimate brainless person can choose the name of ultimate poker for their online poker room...unless they want to be always linked in the back of customers minds with the rigged software, super accounts and other sh1t...i think even Sh1t Poker would've been a better name

Before reading the post by the header only i thought that it was the same site
with the old one like pochui mentioned.
It is with no doubt a big fail in name choosing. Someone should think
that they would have thought any associations with the name.

I have to agree with pochui that the name is not really that inspired but when you think of it there are other weird poker room names like terminal poker or even ftp lol

It's goos that now you can legally play online poker in US, at least Nevada for now Smile

Initially, Ultimate Poker will only be open to people located within Nevada state borders, though it is possible that Nevada will eventually enter into interstate gambling compacts with other states. An important thing to note is that players do not have to be Nevada residents. Anyone of legal age (21 or older) can create an account; they just can’t play if they are not in Nevada. To verify location, Ultimate Poker will do something interesting: it will triangulate a customer’s cell phone signal. As such, a mobile phone number is required to register an account. This mobile number will also be needed to receive an account confirmation text in order to activate an account.
