Pocket Queens  0
Hey there Brmers,

I hope U are all doing fine....

I have a question : Lately I am having problems with the ladies... ( not the living ones else I would have not posted here but on dr Phil's site or so) Whatever way I play them , I get screwed....

If I rais them small , say 3-4 blinds or limp them in, I get called by idiot hands to wich I loose ( 10 4 - 9 6 that sort of hands), If I rais them more or do a 3bet on a raise, I get called by better cards (no problem) or by an idiot with A 4 or so..... Problem is , I like the ladies, so when I get them, folding aint much of an option unless there is a 4bet or an all inn by a thight player..

Last weekend I became twice bubble in a big tournament ( while having enough stack)because of QQ ( actually it was my own fault but its always nicer to blame someone else and who's better to get the blame then the ladies)

Should I just fold the queens as I am arround bubble position, or play them diffrently

Anyway I could use some advice, so please shoot

Have a nice day,

Mies

Pocket Queens is the third strongest hand in holdem poker.
There are six ways to make a pair of queens out of 1326 possible hole cards, so the chance to get them is 6/1326, i.e. a 0.45% chance.

In other words, you will get QQ once every 221 hands. Of course similarly for pocket aces and pocket kings.

So the normal reaction when you get queens is to be very pleased and to bet them aggressively!!!

Ok but I still keep losing them...so what to do???

At some point your luck with change with them, but till that happens stop playing them
the same way when you are in bubble for example and you have enough chips.
You can hit the money, without risking to a follow up with them Smile
Better luck with them next time.

If you're right near or at the bubble,...in a big money game.... FOLD....no question. Especially if you've been having trouble with queens...

Here's why:

I was about 65 or so away from the bubble.... Jinks Jingle...

Heads up with THIS:

Idiot plays his JUNK then apologizes later... I told him " Don't apologize for something you did on purpose IDIOT!..."

I'll Jingle your F'n Jinks idiot....

Being a BrM tourney,.....you'd think I should have f'n known better....

If you are near the bubble with a good stack you have to think twice about how to play QQ.
You can maybe see a flop but dont try to go all in pre flop or call a cripling bet for your stack.
So slow play basicly and keep the pot small(except if you river the nuts or something off course Smile.

In most other cases ... its the third best hand so play agressive.
Like you said these people are calling with bad pocket cards and they cant keep beating the odds.

In a bubble, you should fold Q/Q even K/K and with Aces, play very cruel. Like all in!
In other part of the game, let's say ITM, coz there r much less M0RONS, you should make a big raise, but when i say big, i don't mean half of your stack, you should know your table better than us. I usually make a 2,5XBB, also it matters the position, but let's say you're MP1, after a reraise, i just call, if i have enough stack(also is very important, position and stack). then you should see the flop...after that you should guide. P0ker is not easy, you should feel your cards, your opponent, you should play your chips, your position, there's a lot of points we shoulnd miss!

Well ... I've just played a Q Q hand near the bubble just now , guy makes minimum raise , I call..flop come A 4 5 ... he bets 2/3 pot .. I fold...simple as that Smile.

I think you might have the same problem with JJ too.

Anyways if you play tournaments you should play this hands differently according to the stage of the mttt. At beginning you should play them as a strong pair, always raise, even reraise but do not go all in preflop!

In the late stages of the mtt you could actually even go all in preflop with such a strong hand Blink

if i'm around the bubble and have enough chip to get ITM then i would fold even if 3 aces were dealt to me. i really doubt you're getting any +EV in terms of tournament value (you are risking your tournament because of chips you don't really need at that moment), yeah you are getting a +EV at that particular hand (as long as there is no 7-8 callers Big Smile).
i would try & cash, only then loosen up.

And the thing is that play gets really slow around the bubble.
But when its out and everyone is in the money, then the allin frenzy starts
and in less than two rounds you have more than the minimum prize secured.
Not that this is a rule to follow though cause the aim always is to reach
as far as it goes.
