it'd be a shame but nobody can fool mother nature. if it's the right decision for his health, too bad for us (the ones who follow him) and the poker world, but it's the correct choice if someone asks me. It'd be nice if the WSOP organize an event in his honor!

Greetings!

It is truly a shame that Doyle is unable to continue to play poker.
I am sure his recent fight with cancer has really taken its toll on him if he has not got the strength to play the game he loves so much.
I wish him all the best and hope his family has him around for many more good years. Hope is not suffering to much from the cancer.
God bless you and your family Doyle.

Seems like the nicest old guy you could meet...! Thumbs Up

There's a hand named after him, sort of in his honour,...It's called 'The Brunson',....which is 10 2 offsuit....

I guess he won a huge tournament betting big on it once or something like that...

I watched a tourney on TV one day where it was him and a young new female pro (don't remember her name right off) playing heads up,....and she pulled a 'Brunson' on him and took a good chunk of his stack,....and he got a big hearty laugh out of it...lol... Big Smile

I read last year his book(supersistems..)and i liked a lot, even in my humble opinion that book is more suitable to live players...

Doyle Brunson has written a blog to clarify the context of his tweet.
In his post he confirmed that he isn't going to "quit playing poker" and that he'll still be grinding until he "can’t sit at the table".
Knowing that he can't maintain the same concentration levels as he used to, Doyle is now content to grind the cash games at his own pace.
Doyle did leave the door open, however, saying that he is "certainly not ruling [the WSOP] out".

Sad news for poker. Doyle Brunson is definitively the kig of poker and one of the player who brought that game to the level it is right now. Can't do anything about getting older, sadly Sad

Still hope Doyle a lot of year to live in an healthy way. Good to learn he'll still be grinding Smile
