Does ANYONE actually like Badugi?  0
So as I sit here trying to get motivated for what could very well be 5 hours plus of what is in my opinion the most pointless and dull poker variant around - Badugi, I'm wondering, does ANYONE actually like it?

I'm a fan of virtually all forms of poker, but just can not get into Badugi however hard I try. As I missed the Saturday round 2, I have no choice but to play this one tonight... but I'm not looking forward to it. TBF, winning the $300+ 1st place will make it all worth while....

Yeah... I prefer Badugi than Razz, and I think that the Razz is the most boring & stupid game in the world...

well i have to agree with mysik- i prefer badugi over razz, actually badugi is a nice game, but i think it would be more popular if pl and nl badugi was introduces as well. fl games very often begin to bore after a while, also tbh i don't think they are beatable in the long run in lower limits due to the rake and poor players who make -ev decisions (even though this should be a +ev situation to you, but it's not- you have to play more hands to compensate the loss of calling stations who win lots of hands with no logic behind their actions, and more hands= more rake...

I really like Razz myself - I feel it's very easy to make good decisions with so much information available.

With Badugi, the only info available is how many cards your opponent is discarding. I imagine though, that a substantial amount of players in this freeroll will be all but clueless on how to play... so I'm still pretty confident of doing well.

i cant say razz is a bad game, but it's very one sided game, really hard to squeeze out any value if good players are at the table- that's why i prefer stud hi/lo, omaha hi/lo over razz. hi/lo games tend to offer more "relatively safe" profit opportunities imo...but hey i am a very stable player in all poker forms: i lose everywhere Big Smile

Well, they say consistency is key pochui Smile

...so far so good btw, on the Badugi.

------------
1st break... about half the field gone. I'm nearly double the average... all looking good.

On my table, there are 3 tight short stacks, one sitting out, and one loose big stack guy from Brazil. That's where all my chips are coming from - he's taking 'em off the tight guys, I'm taking 'em off him. Gonna be fun beating on a Brazilian guy, while watching England beat on Brazil in the football Smile

Not bad as a game. I play this one for fun when i have few minutes to relax and have a
drink while surfing.
Not a game that i would ever play with money Smile
Even though i have been paid a couple of times with it from freerolls.

In the money now, but got some work to do to get back near the average after some highly questionable play by one guy on my table Angry

I agree with you on this yout85 as I have always enjoyed RAZZ, but to be honest I haven't given Badugi that fair of a chance to decide how well I like it, but the few times I've played it really seems like RAZZ with a twist. I mean you need the lowest hand with all different suits. It did take awhile for RAZZ to grow on me and I figure the same with Badugi.

Not that keen on badugi or razz to be honest. What I have started to get into, and am enjoying quite a lot, is 2-7 single draw.

Like Greenmohave said its like razz but with a twist.
You need the four different suits so for me its more fun then razz.

I have played it in the past on stars but havent for a while.

I have way more fun playing Omaha hi lo or regular Omaha.

The new trend is to play more open face chinese poker.
Especially live, because I haven't seen it on online games.
I have no idea what the rules of the games are.
I've checked it out on wikipedia and it confused me because there is no 1 chinese poker in general,
there are many variants in this game too...
So I decided that when the time will come, I will learn it (when I'll ned it, if I'll need it...).

As for Badugi, I completely agree with you - boring game!
It's like hold'em but with no betting rounds, no strategy, lot of luck,...
just changing the cards and hoping to hit a pair minimum.
Razz I tried out 2 years ago but I completely forgot how the game goes.
