Sheldon Adelson( the chairman and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, the parent company of Venetian Macao Limited which operates The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and the Sands Expo and Convention Center) stated that he is "adamantly opposed to the legalization" of online poker in the US, Adelson now wants to restrict the virtual game in Spain. According to recent reports in Spanish, Adelson recently met with Spain's Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, to discuss smoking restrictions in his proposed EuroVegas casino complex. In addition to trying to rewrite Spanish health laws, Adelson's lawyers told Rajoy that they need "more satisfaction on online gaming", specifically, that they "need the [online gambling] bill repealed". Adelson followed this up by telling listeners at his AGM that he is "very much against" the online industry and that it has "no real benefits".
