Although the copy/pasting irks me, in the end I decided not to pursue it any further. Yes, if these guys would reference their source and throw in their own opinion of the piece it would make it more legitimate, however I do not have time to peruse other poker sites to get the latest tidbits of news and these guys fill that need by putting it onto BRM. Not worth getting riled up about IMO, there is still too much beer that needs drinking and too much poker still to be played.

Leaders yes, obv juveniles not. I had many reasons for becoming a leader, and one of them was to make sure my son was having a good experience. The background checks are now quite extensive, with police checks and fingerprinting for all leaders, along with a lot of training. I have coached my son and daughter's soccer and baseball teams, however the involvement required is nothing compared to that of a scouting leader. Unfortunately wherever there are groups of children paedophiles will seek to be a part of these groups, and scouting has been in the news too much the past couple of years for this reason. It paints a bad picture of what I think (especially in this internet/computer age) is potentially a great experience for kids who will otherwise have little contact with nature, and miss out on many opportunities for personal growth.

If the scout leader would have invited US over for beer and poker when I was one,...I would have asked "Where are the strippers"...? <lol...
On a more serious note... Mighty fine of you to donate so much time to a good thing. Makes a difference in a lot of young boys lives and hopefully sends them down a good path.
Good to hear they are really doing a good job screening guys who are interested in becoming leaders. I guess from what I've seen in the news in the last few years, there was quite a problem in the past with pedophiles infiltrating the scouts... in both Canada and the U.S.,....and the worst thing about it is that the organization was covering it up to save face,...not unlike the Catholic, and other denominations of churches. Vile stuff that!
Look at Sheldon Kennedy (NHL) being abused by that scumbag junior hockey coach as an example. What he's doing now is a GREAT thing,...but you can see in his eyes and demeanor that what happened to him has affected his life big time.
Every now and then my old Cub and Scout uniforms come to mind. They are long gone somewhere. I think my Mom gave them away to some other kids who needed them. I REALLY wish though that I still had my sash (or whatever it's called) with all my achievement badges.....
