The 3 best poker players in history

***********************
1) Stu Ungar, a genius who lost his 'all-in' against drugs
***********************

(1953-1998) Nicknamed 'The Kid' by their physical appearance, many experts was the best poker player in history. Half player, half legend. It was almost invincible ... when I was able to play.

***********************
2) Doyle Brunson, the first to win a million dollars
***********************

Junto a Johnny Moss y 'Amarillo Slim', uno de los ‘padres’ del póker moderno, consiguió sus primeros éxitos cuando este juego de cartas aún era ilegal en los Estados Unidos.

***********************
3) Phil Ivey, the Tiger Woods of poker tables
***********************

Known as the "Tiger Woods of Poker", both by their skin color and for its early successes, has been, probably, and together with Daniel Negreanu, the most complete player of the last decade

I think except number one the players are indeed the best...

I think it's pretty hard to make such a top simply because some players are good on different styles of play or games. If money is the thing that shows how good a player is than i guess a top should be made using this refference point.

I dont understand how you can call someone a genius when he/she
dies from drug abuse.
Where is the smart thing about that?
You could tell me it is an addiction that he "couldnt"get out.
But how a genius ended up there in the first place.

Love him or hate him, the number one player of all time is undoubtedly Phil Hellmuth.

For 25 years he's been taking down WSOP tournaments and winning bracelets.

You simply cannot argue against the facts, and that is that Phil Hellmuth is the most decorated poker player ever, and for that reason you have to say he's the undisputed master of the game.

i don't know about the best 3 in history but my top 3 have got to be in no specific order,

1 Phil Hellmuth
2 Daniel Negraneu
3 Johhny Chan

3 great players i think and Chan's achievment will never be beaten,2 straight wsop main event wins and coming 2nd in his quest for 3 in a row to who else but.... Phil Hellmuth.

Me,...Myself,....and I

THREE of the ALL-TIME greats.... I'm a legend,....in my own mind.... Thumbs Up

I don't know about too many great players in history,...but I would have to agree that Daniel Negraneau, and Phil Hellmuth have to be at least two of them to this point in time.. Thumbs Up

Lists like this are always difficult to make .......on what grounds do U decided that people deseve their place. If U look at the biggest money earners in poker, then Jamie Gold should be at 1.
Phill Helmuth who has the most bracelets only is on 12th position at this list.

Doyle Brunson who is (according to most people) the biggest legend in poker, aint even in the top 25.
But he was playing ( and winning) poker long before Ivey and Negraneau even were born and price money was much lower in these days.

the top 3 of biggest earners has besides Jamie Gold, Daniel Negraneau and phil Ivey filling up the top spots.

So who's the best??? hard to say ,think we all have our favorites as they all have diffrent styles.
I am personally a big fan of Negraneau, because of his personality and good play.

But is the best poker player not the person U fancy least to play, in that case I would put Barry Greenstein verry high in my top three..... as I almost never seen the man making a mistake, each time I saw him loose it was due to bad luck and never because he did something wrong.

I make this post like a PS to my first post in this thread, some of the name that i would add would definately be P. Hellmuth, he has the most bracelets after all and if we talk about a very experienced live poker mtt player: Erik Seidel.

Again not sure if you could really make top since you need to have some criterias to do it.
