I am creating thread for a place where I can talk, moan, analyse and improve my poker. Either to myself or to people who comment. So hopefully you guys dont mind if I update here now and again, or with every constant bad beat.

First up my hatred for trips when fish or semi good player calls your big raise(In position) and you hit top pair(Say A84 on board and I have AK) With the villain I am thinking A10- Q range but they always hit trips whether it be with they're 33 or 77. Its been happening to me a lot lately and I think I am cursed. I mean about 70% of my sessions. Edit: Add flush draws to that list too. Players always chase and hit against. Especially if I try and induce more betting so I can more money and that always comes to bite me back in the ass. Just flopped a straight and of course they chased and hit the flush. Oh well.

Had my AA with big raise called by two people earlier. Flop came Qxx and so I did a big pot bet hoping they would push all in with they're Q. Turns out the guy called with Q3 and hit a fullhouse by the river. A while ago I would have gone mental, kicked off and then gone on super tilt through my anger. I just laughed it off and stayed calm. I do start to play more hands or try bluffing or C-bets more when I lose a lot so I need to tone that down.

Other than those I am improved my game a bit but I am buggered over by the fish most of the time but I always win more than I lose. I was actually up 7BB earlier(£9 away from breaking even after my big dip last month Sad) and improved a lot of my bad stats on Pokertracker. I was happy that I was finally getting close to my first target and the chance to move up to the next stake...until 30 mins later when I got a few bad beats and over played C-bets and I am now down 10bb. So annoying as this always happens when I go up and am crushing and things happen and I do some idiot stuff but forget they are calling stations and will call any flush or straight draw or low pairs on the board.

Thats enough talking to myself for now. Big Smile Blink

Thanks mate. I just need to keep to certain guide lines but I always sway from them and it hurts my play and bankroll. I have improved over the last year slowly so things can only get better including me. Blink

I actually prefer Cash tables but I do like MTT whenever I am in the mood.

Just had my KK cracked by fish(Who likes to call and raise on rubbish) by his Q9s. I know it happens but come on its constant at micro levels for me. Bah. Must stay calm...

Tilt is the bane of all. I luckily just got out of it and was up 3bb until someone tried to trap me by slow playing his aces and I hit a flush on the turn. I min raise and he raised so I went all in. River brings down a 4th flush card to bring me crashing back down. I swear somethings against me but I know it happens so I am glad I am starting to get this mindset now as it helps against super tilt.

Here is my summary graph from pokertracker(This thing has really helped my game somewhat as I can analyse players and myself)

Today everything was in green and profit apart from 10nl which I lost so much because of super tilt last month but officially I won it back by coming in £20 just past the bubble in a MTT last month. If you see in the last whatever hands since the big drop I go up doing well then the badbeats and downturns come. I am improving so I just need to keep calm and waiting for the hands and plays I need.

------------
My luck finally turn after being patient and I am nearly break evens from where I started earlier minus the 7BB profit. Which I am happy with. Just had AA at the same time on both my tables. Won a lot from one table(guy had KK(Standard) but the other table folded. A few hands later I got KK on one of my tables and the guy who lost big to my AA(He is on both tables too raised big with his AK I 3 bet him and he went all in so I snap called. I felt sorry for him getting hit hard by me twice and now hes scared of my raises and bluffs lol.

Check out the attached picture of my AA's on both tables at the same time. I have never had it happen before.

Edit: I cannot post it with my stat one so I will post it tomorrow.

Yeah. Just find the main website and you get a 30 day trial. Its been really helpful and can also help you find out about your links etc. I couldnt play without it now.

Edit:

The picture of my double table aces is in my photo bucket link below. Weird but a good site to see. Big Smile

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk387/phisixx/Untitl...

Edit x2:

And here we go again bad beats from bad players. Raise big with my 1010 with one limper(Who keeps lucking on the river against me) who calls. Flop comes all cards under so I bet the pot and he calls. I then push as a straight draw has appears and he calls. Turns over K7(7 being the highest card on the flop) and then comes a magic 7 on the river. Oh well, keep making calls like that and I will just drain that persons BR for him. Smile It just annoys me as I played and trapped that guy perfect and he gets rewarded for his stupid calls.

Edit x 3:

back up just over break evens from my bad beats now thank god. Been crushing these two new tables really bad. I have shown that I only bet with premium cards, so now I can bluff them out with cheap cards. Also just did a pro fold. Two fish calling my raise on the button and a Q flopped so I had top pair(Q10) both guys folded so I bet the pot. The other guy who is a good player and only raises on premium or big hands raised super big so I knew he had two pair or trips so I insta folded. The second guy who also checked pushed all in and the good player called. The good guy had flopped trips and the other one Q10 like me. Last year I would have called that but I could tell by the way he played that. I guess I can learn and pick up on things.

Also, I have noticed with this night sessions I have had AA about 10 times now in a few hours. Most of them on one table. Weird...

I think it's a matter of... 'That's online poker for ya'... I figure there's just tons of folks who just don't know what they're doing, don't care what they're doing, too drunk to know what they're doing,...or just play super loose,...PLUS take into account most of it is low stakes poker.

You almost never see poker played like that played amongst the pros on TV,...or even amongst you and your buddies when you get together for a night...!

It's enough to drive you nuts though,...jus look at what it's done to masconas mind,...what, with the 'magic' river card and all....lol... Big Smile

I just play relatively tight in all money games... The pros get tighter if anything,...they never get looser...after time.

Agreed, but when you need to change your game up when you become predictable with raises and bets around the same values. I usually raise big with my pocket Aces but the table had seen me do that a few times tonight so I changed to limping so that had shown I did not have a good hand since I have been tight and used premiums all night and the sucks called and raised and I trapped them. Usually they suck out though which is why I dont usually do it but my image would have meant they would have all folded. I am actually a BB up now from being down 8 BB so I am happy now. Patience does work after continuous bad beats.

I hope you are joining Pochuis tournament this month so we can see how each other play.

Well there is a few people going so it will be good, plus no donk Russians. Get your fishing rod out. Blink

Not been to sleep yet, I've be playing poker since 11:30am lol. I started being down from an hour before and have been robbed all night long but I have just had a really good hour crushing two tables. A few tight agressive players and a few fish who actually respect raises and C-bets Shock I am back up to the profit I was at earlier. 9BB to go and I will break even on my losses and can push on from there. Those 9 will give me enough BR for the next stake up but I am going to be a nit and double that as I don't want to lose all my hard earned BR. Playing it safe is a better option.

Going bed now as have to be up in a few hours. Night. Catch you tomorrow for another episode of Phisix's Poker Base. Cool

Your luck sounds like mine except mine is probably slightly worse. What pisses me off is you want the fish to call on you these stupid hands. They do, and then it rewards them. You sound like you have more discipline than me though for example that q10 hand you folded to trips. I would have knew he had trips but still called out of curiosity because I'm a moody idiot sometimes.

Exactly. That is a trap I set for myself as when you have the nuts or best over pair they always fold but when you bluff on air or a draw they call you down. I guess you have to find the right time to trap and getting the most value out of them. Slow playing usually goes against me too unless the streets stay dry.

I used to call with hands like that thinking I had the best hand(I have learnt from my bad experience...I hope) but after learning and revising I have learnt not to and to take a step back and judge what is going on. With my poker HUD I can quickly check a player out to see his range of hands at what street and if his is a TAG, Fish or Looser type of player and judge on that. Trapping with KK/AA 99% pays me off but some times they hit magic like last night. Perhaps I should have called him down to the river instead of pushing all in?

Not been able to sleep and I am house sitting my mates dog so I cannot sleep so I have plenty of time and quiet to play poker and try and reach my break even point for today. I just hope the lack of sleep doesnt impact on it. Big Smile

------------
Big time calling station on this table I am on at the moment. Everyone limping in every hand so on the button I had Q10 so raised to steal or to hit a hand. 10xx dry hits the flop and two of them min raise so I raise big to take the pot as I know I am ahead. One folds and the super calling station keeps calling me down to showdown. His cards show 107o and he hit a 7 to get two pairs and beat me.

Shrugged it off but the amount of times this happens gets annoying but in the back of my mind I know he will eventually lose his money. A few hands later he limped into a pot and the flopped three suits and he kept calling down another person who obviously had a decent enough hand. He finally lost as he was chasing a 4th suited card. Just goes to show my mentality was right. Now time to try and trap and exploit. Big Smile

------------
Edit x 3:

Exploited they have been. My fishing rod has been getting bites for the last hour. Just jumped up 5bb in like 40 minutes. Happy with my few sessions since my last bad beat.down turn.

Reasons why:

- Stats improved on everything on Poker tracker except my win/lose ratio when im on the BB in games.
- Started BR at £5. A week or two crushing 1/2NL I am now on £21.94(Small sessions + lots of bad beats)
- Now have enough BR to move up a stake to 2/4NL 100x 2BB = £20( I only enter a new table using half the max buy in, But I am going to be a nit and make more just in case moving up ruins it a bit)
- Learning more on how to play, stopping my leaks a bit more and of course finally getting paid off by the calling stations and fish. I still have light years to go in all aspects but seeing my stats and win/loss ratios improve makes me feel like I am going in the right direction. I won't get ahead of myself as it can all come crushing down in a moment.

Time for a break for a few hours. There is also a special FB freeroll on at Ladbrokes tonight with 1st = £200 so I am going to take a crack at that and see how well I can do with my improvements and slightly better knowledge.

How are the rest of you doing with your bankrolls and play?

Not going too well. Theres not much going off in the way of tourneys atm so I decided to have a go at a cash game out of boredom. I'm not a cash game player, and am pretty bad at them. Had some super donk on my table raising like 5bbs every hand, and if you raised him he would just triple or quadruple your raise. He was fuckin pissing me off so i started calling down with anything, and he just kept on hitting 2 pair, trips, straights, flushes, you name it. So he took all of what i bought in for, plus a few other peoples stacks and I'm quitting for a few hours, not in the mood now.
Aww crap!

Its best to just leave the table and find another one, or just pick your spots with premium hands. I've had people like that donk with Ax(Which you pick up on) and I have always beaten him when I have picked up 10-AA pockets or AJ-K.

What stakes were you playing on?

Just 2/4c. Btw the reason i was calling him down so much was it was going on for ages. He either scared everyone off or took them out. Then it was heads up and I just started going crazy just thinking hes probly got 35 off or something. I flopped top pair, he done some big donk, i went all in, he'd flopped 2 pair. I was playing normal-ish at first, but even when i had qq, and ak etc he'd just flop something after him being stupid preflop. Eg, I min raise him with ak he goes over the top and quadruples my bet. Flops 2 pair on absolute junk like 74.

------------
I would of moved table and thought about it, but i want a crazy donk that i can outplay, just weren't happening.

Don't worry mate I am getting owned on the tables. People calling any raise every hand and hitting things with their rubbish even though I have the better hand every time.

------------
I am seriously getting f-ing wound up right now. getting beat by the worst hands all the time. Guy min raises and I raise big with 1010, so he raises me and I go all in. Guy shows A9o and of course ace on the turn and flush on the river.

Bloody constant pricks calling with absolute crap and always hitting something big. Down £10 because these c-nuts cant play poker and always luck out. House wins as usual and good play doesnt. Bloody idiots

------------
I must have gone on super tilt as I started going crazy aggro on them on every flop knowing they had nothing. Just made back most of my money back doing that. How easy fish/stations fold to a big C-bet or 3bet.

Thanks to that I have my head so I am glad I did not lose more. I think I need to think up a plan to counter these after a few bad beats. Maybe leave after two BB lost or something like that. Any ideas guys? I thought I had sorted my tilt out but I guess anyone can get it when you have constant crap against you.

Just had a good session on a higher stake(2/4NL) Since it was in Euros it would not hurt my BR. I came off that table nearly 4 BB up and I am now £1.20 away from breaking even for my loses and £20 up from my last deposit. So doing well even with that bad day yesterday.

Just need to keep grinding to £40 so I jump up to 2/4NL full time then carry on grinding until the next level as well as improving my poker through reading.

Anyone else playing higher stakes than me successfully?

Stats looking much better now. Check them out below!

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk387/phisixx/Untitl...

------------
Note to self and anyone else. Never slow play a big hand on micros and not realise the turn brings a straight draw. I just had pocket kings and the flopped gave me a set. So slow played it with value bets and he hit a straight on the river(standard)

I actually got past break even from my losses before hand and into the green but I am now down because that and some idiot players calling with junk and hitting big. Just got AQ, everyone limped in so raised big to get rid of them. Guy called with A2 and the flop dropped 922. How is it they always call and always hit something big?

Now to stay calm and somehow play them to get back my £5 loss. Sad
