Hi I got another Idea > BRM web programmers.

Can u build up an expert system that collects the communitys knowledge into some lucid format for example hand chart which expands out over the positions and then takes into account the situations therein encountered??

The knowledge would be collected for the expert system I suppose in the form of a series of nested if thens which take into account what person.loggedin would do given hand XY in position [1 of X] under circumstances C

where C is the set of "givens" given!

what do u think?

I think you should stay off the drugs and stick to poker.

I haven't the faintest idea what on gods earth you are on about.

I also do not fully understand what OP tries to say here. Charts based on the hands you play can be made automatically by HUD software.

If you are talking about training software that puts you take a hand decision in a certain poker situation those programs already exist...

Hang on, let me just call up my friend Mark Zuckerberg and see if we can borrow a hundred of his developers for the next few weeks.

Go into your excel files and start collecting your data based on ranges or scenarios and click on chart wizard. You'll get Pie Charts, Line Diagrams, Paretos and Scatter Diagrams to analyze and then share your analogy with us.

ok its ambitious and tricky but its an excellent idea. It would group everything poker under a gametype[chart] and then the hand analysis engine would be presented. The individual elements such as specifying the villains setups etc.. would be included with a mouse from a predefined set for easy inclusions (the givens i called them) and then the resulting action would be shown.

As an example:

It would reprogrammatically something along the lines of IN Tourneyplay tablepos [2..9] with HAND Jc3c with the table situation [S] mobster.exo would raise x

One of several entries per chart per situation.

THe mobsters would choose which hands to enter so only interesting situations i assume would come about.

Well??

I am a programmer myself interested in AI and neural networks. The idea was simply to have a chart posted here on bankrollmob in which everyone could input information- everybodies ideas are different right. and then we could spark up some interesting discussions based around the difference and start to see a grouping of the commonalities as well.

I dont know if your not interested admin fair enough i just thought it would be nice. Its something I want to get together anyway- wanna discuss it?

If not fair enough guess im gonna have to take this particular one somewhere else.

Not all my ideas get disapproval btw. It was my suggestion to run the Freerolls on the points system that brm now offers across ps and ftp.

------------
to greenmohave some interesting analysis suggestions but its really (in my idea) an analysis tool embedded into bankrollmob.com that mobsters can build together. it would be good as a tool for us all (in my crazy opinion of course) Evil

I like most things related to AI's, but already, this sounds like something that will take many hours to do, and not "something you just go ahead and do", so I'm not saying it's a bad idea (it may be a good idea), but it's too much for us to handle.

if I am understanding this correctly, you are talking about a program that evolves and learns how to play poker similar the chess playing programs.

not only is that very expensive to do in terms of both programming and hardware, but I think anyone caught using such a system would find themselves banned by any poker site that found out about it.

My first thoughts after reading the original post was the same as fcumred's.
What drugs he is on to Smile
But then again i have no idea of programming neither the maths needed to it,
so it makes sense to some.

What you want OP sounds really complicated and i can bet that it's above the skills of a regular wbn programmer!

Frankly i also think that you need more than web programmers to pull this up so i do not think it's a viable proposal for this site.

Lol when I first read this I had no idea what the OP was on about. Now I've had a few bevvies I seem to understand more. It's not a bot for playing poker or a HUD analyzer. Basically we are talking about combining the knowledge of BRM members to produce a playable hands chart. I think the OP seems to be over complicating things a little...

My first comment... I don't think it's necessarily beneficial to make statistics from BRM players. I don't think there are more poker experts here than novices. I don't think there's any way to take the common opinion in a useful way. Sometimes the common opinion will be right. Sometimes it won't. It's far more interesting to know what well-known respected forum members think than what the mass consensus is.

Secondly. You could test this out in a simplified way by creating polls for various hands and comparing them with similar examples, seeing how they match the expert advice/standard poker theory, debating whether the polls are mostly wrong or right, seeing if polls on BRM match how poker players tend to play on various sites etc...

I think that in any case it could be time consuming for BRM but the most simple way involving extra programming would be a script asking for brm members to pick their starting hands, it gets too complicated when you introduce flops, implied odds, if thens based on preflop action and number of players still in the hand. If you simply ask in "position x" facing "preflop raise y" what to do you with each starting hand, then you could easily (*easy for some) produce a chart based on average moves but tbh I don't see much interest in it.
