You should drop down a stake tbh mate so you have more BI's. Trust me as I lost what you had in your BR and going down a stake will make your BR last longer.

G'day mate

Well I must admit the you are completely right.
However I have absolutely no plans to drop down at all.
If I lose this money I will simply make the $50 deposit I was planning to make at the start of the month. The way I see it this deposit was with free money so if I lose it then oh well.
Yes I know it is a poor way to look at it.
The 0.05/0.10 NL tables are where I am very comfortable playing and I do enjoy playing at that level. I also like the 0.10/0.25 NL tables too Smile
I have decided to enjoy this deposit and make an aggressive run at building my bankroll.
I am very confident in my ability to grind away at this level.
Will do fine as long as negative variance leaves me alone Smile

Yes but a few suckouts or fish calls and it can hurt you like it has done to me the last few days. Then again I don't have another $50 to deposit after so you should be fine. Smile

G'day mate

Well you are correct about the possibility of idiot fishes being able to suck out on me.
It could hurt it it happened a couple times quickly.
I just played another quick session and my bankroll is now $96.00
Would be above 100 but I played a couple SnG's and missed the money.
The 0.05/0.10 NL tables allow me to buy in for as little as $4 and at the minimum buy in amount I have almost 20 buy ins.
I often buy in for the minimum $4 or sometimes $5.
There are times however when I do the maximum $10 buyin as well it depends on how I am feeling at the time I sit down to start grinding.

If you have nearly 20 BI's you should be fine now mate so gl and try and turn that into something special.

Me on the other hand, I got burnt on Blaze 0.5/0.10 out of some big pots by River bail outs so I had to jump down to 0.01/0.02 or risk being busto. Not liking this stake as it takes ages to make any profit even when I two table, and its slow as Blaze is the same as ZOOM.

Do you ever try and tournaments?

G'day Phisix

Yes I do play some tournaments.
I have been struggling with some major health issues for the last couple months however and my doctors do not want me to play any poker that will require longer then 2 hours time at any single sitting. In truth the doctor would prefer I not play any poker at all as he feels it causes me to much stress which he thinks is the last thing I need added to my current stress levels.
December 3rd I will be tested for problems in my left leg and one of the things they will look for is cancer.
Just play a losing session of 0.05/0.10 NL after only 1.5 hours I had to stop because feeling sick so I finished with a loss of $1.96 USD Smile

Yep I am a big loser Smile lol

best of luck to you.

Nice to have you back on the money tables Ronin..

Just be carefull so you won t loose your BR ... even as you consider it s free money...

it s always better to double up and keep the money of your next planned deposit..

all the best man...

A small loss is still better than a massive one and you BR is fine from that. Just play when you feel good enough mate.

G'day mate

Thank you for you kind words and well wishes.
Just playing a session and lost 3 buy ins so my bankroll just dropped buy $16.
Glad I only bought in for $5 on each table.
It sucks when you get your money in good and you are a massive favorate to win and then the damn river decides to screw you and reward the idiot for his continued bad play.
I will get it back later.
current bankroll is now $82.77

good luck at the tables mates

G'day mate

Wow what a night I had last night.
I hit major negative variance, at one point my bank roll had dropped down to $46 and change.
I knew I was playing good poker and so I stayed calm and just tried to up my game even more by shutting down all but one table and totally concentrated on everything, about 2 hours later I was back up to just over $90.
Very happy with how I turned everything around. It was much easier once negative BS variance stopped kicking my a$$.
hope you have a great day

Hello RoninHarper,

This is the first time visiting your blog. I am really happy that you are back! Very nice the idea of creating a Bankroll Management Challenge. I hope everything goes well with the plans.

Well, this is my story report from yesterday: I deposited $10 at PokerStars and everything was pretty fine. I played one SNG $1.50 Knockout (90 players) I elliminated six players and I finished at 3rd position. I won from that tournament total $15.22. You can see some of the players which I elliminated here (10th page, last comment):

http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&id...

So, I already had $25.22. I decided to play The Big $4.40 Tournament yesterday, but I was out early. The bankroll is $20.82. Then I decided to play the cash games NLH micro fixed limits $0.02/$0.04.

After playing 3 hours I won $10.40. The bankroll now is $31.22. After that I was very exhausted and I thought to go to sleep. I was happy because $10 was the deposit and I had $31.22.

But the greed for money inside of me woke up Big Smile and I said to myself I will play a little bit Zoom $0.05/$0.10. After playing 2 hours at the Zoom tables I lost everything! Sad

Now my bankroll is $0.00 Sad That is how the yesterday PokerStars drama finished for me.

What did I do wrong? I shouldn't play at the Zoom tables, right? Where is the mistake?

Best Regards,

Peter7878

G'day Peter

Well first off I want to welcome you to my Bankroll Management Challenge Blog.
The zoom tables for me are nothing but the kiss of death to my bankroll.
Truly I can not remember a single time when I have played on the zoom tables and left with a profit.
Now I only play the zoom table with no more then $2 at a time and I immediately count the money as lost and gone.
I only play the zoom tables when I just want to kill some time and have a little fun with NO false expectations of winning anything at all.
Read on one forum that statistic's show 98% of zoom players are losing money.
I personally can beleave it.
I was saddened to read that you threw it all away on the zoom tables.
Hope you can get back into the game again soon.
Best of luck to you next time.

I spent two hours playing on two tables on 0.01./0.02NL and I broke even. Aww crap! Better than losing though I guess.

Thanks Ronin!

I can believe it too, that 98% of the zoom players are losing money. The hands were absolutely ridiculous! I lost with a pair of aces, queen kicker and the opponent won with a pair of aces, king kicker. I am speechless!

Good luck with your challenge!

Zoom is definitely a waste of time and money for me also. Every time i play that for a quick buck i end up losing way more than what i was expecting to win anyway. Its a "tilt making machine" if you ask me... and it works perfectly coz it always manage to suck out the most it can out of my roll.
In the other hand Zoom tournaments i kinda like. also has the major beats here and there. but if u manage to build a stack in the beginning its quite a smooth ride all the way into the money.

But enough about zoom lol. so Ronin, how's the roll going?

G'day mate

Well I only play poker today for about an hour as I had company show up and we played PS3 all afternoon and evening. I suffered from two bad beats during that hour and lost about $7.
Current bank roll is now $83.15

Now worried though as I plan to play tomorrow for what should be a good grind session and barring negative variance I should do fine.

best wishes to you amigo

oh btw zoom poke-her is a hard beast to tame, i like the fact that i dont have to stare at the hand when i fold, but other than that i dont find anything more that i like about it Big Smile

First time is visit your blog so i didn't read all the posts.
i know it's very important that you set yourself a goal.
But i don't think that you goal is very realistic for that period.
You should play a massive amount of hands so the best way would be to play zoom-tables.
But that's a game that has a huge variance-level and you don't like it anyway.

Good luck after all

RONIN...great to see you are still bang at it...even though your situation on and off the tables isnt looking quite as rosy as we all wish it was!

Keep your spirits up.

One thing you could try is if you have a tablet device, get an app link to your PC so that you can control your PC from your tablet thereby not having to sit down but can walk around and play poker! Helps to relieve the stress.
