5 handed $8.80 SNG, top 4 get paid. Blinds at 150/300. I'm on the Button. I have $3,500 in chips the smallest stack but not by much.
Folds to me. I have A6hearts. Decide to call and see what happens, keep pot small.
SB then raises to 700.
BB calls.
I call. Pot now - 2100. FLOP - 9c 9h 2h
SB raises 700. BB calls. Pot now 3500k
The way I figure this one, SB is trying to see if some Ax hand is any good or even an underpair. I think the BB has the nine, they have been tight but unwilling to commit chips unless they have a hand. So I figured that at least the BB is playing to the river if I chase my flush and I'll put the max pressure on him to make a call by shoving AI. Implied odds means im getting about 3:1 and if I win I have a commanding chip lead.
I shove, SB folds, BB calls and goes AI with 98s. I flush on the turn and then take second in the tourney after a monster HU battle where I got it AI with A9 and lost to A2...
I wouldn't want to make this decision every tourney, but what's your thoughts?

Maybe it was a steal raise and your call is good.
If there was no 99x on board he would not have called unless he has a king flush or something, so your reasoning is good by putting pressure on him, if he has no 9xx he would fold if he has it, you can still win by a flush with 2 cards to fall. Well played.

Posted by Macubaas: You played the hand good in my opinion but i guess there are other mobsters that are truely experts on mtt.
On the last hand that you lost what the villain hit? Ace to five str8?
Yeah I'm sure there's a case for calling to see the turn and then getting it in, or straight up folding. It felt right.
As for the A2, he flopped a 2, first card out and then like 30 mins later I got it in preflop and he had KK. Bit sick to lose it cos I outplayed the guy the whole session then he happened to have a hand at the wrong time. All good.
