Even pros like Mercier cutting deals, jeez. Tight for money?

Kinda ruins the game when every FT is a deal - affects play for sure.

Well it is a skill to be able to get a deal for more than your value, if he knew he wont be able to make it, he will prefer to take a guarantee profit rather than wait and bust.

Or he might be staked, so a good deal is better than less money. Anyway deals are part of poker, deal with it!!

Why would a player like Jason Mercier be staked to play in a lowly $700 buy in tourney...?

It's not like he's broke or anything like that... The guy has got to be worth a few million dollars...

And for a guy like him to take some sort of deal when he's capable of outright winning the thing makes no sense to me... Confused

Maybe his Mom came to pick him up from the tourney and she was waiting in the car beeping the horn for him to hurry up... Big Smile

In his specific tournament the deal really spoils the final tale action and drama really...

Probably since he is from US he has some important $$$ that he cannot use and even 200k is important for him right now.

Negotiation has been a part of online poker since inception. And whooping in 200k+, would be just awesome.

Another big payday for Jason Mercier, this guy must be in the top 10 all round poker players in the world. He excels at the 2 most lucrative games out there, i.e. PLO and NLH. Another great young player
