The 'forbidden' words filter  0
This has probably been mentioned many times before but I am too lazy to search. Smile

I understand, or, at least think I do, the reasoning behind not being able to use the full names of gaming sites such as FT or PS in the fora but my brain cell is unable to fathom the reason for not being able to use the word p o k e r.

It really makes some of the posts a lot more difficult to comprehend.

I don't think any of these words are blocked:

I play poker on both Full tilt (or is FullTilt one word?) as well as PokerStars.

Check your adblocking software... Looks fine for me, but they are highlighted with links added by BRM...

That is a first really. When did you have problems writing down here the word poker.
I have used that word so many times with no problems at all.
And there is no reason for it to be filtered in the first place Smile

I hoep you atr not referring to the underlining Smile

g'day mate

Interesting problem there amigo.
I do not remember not being able to use the word poker before in a post.
I think our forum member might be right.
Perhaps you have a parental blocking feature turned on which is attempting to edit out things in order to protect you from yourself.
I had parents who tried that once with me until I turned it around on them and did some parent block on them in order to protect them from themselves Smile
I got a beat down from the old man but my point was made when I told him that as long as they blocked out my stuff I was going to block out his and that if he tried to beat on me again I was going to defend myself.
Decided I would raither die fighting then take another hit from him.
That day our dynamic changed when he hit me again and I pulled my knife and told him i knew how to use it and I was no longer living in fear of him.
We just left each other alone after that and things became much better around my home.
My step father was an abusive drunk.

good luck with your problem
be cool

That is the solution. Thank you very much. I do run an add blocker and will enter an exception.

Have entered an exception in my ad blocker and all is now well.

Except for .......

Aaaaaaaaaargh! My eyes, my eyes. All those colours. Big Smile

Definately the problems is on your end mate, i never had problems writing down poker site names like Pokerstars or Full Tilt Poker...

As some suggested maybe is has something to do with your browser, maybe something like a parental control thing?

Never thought the cause of it to be a parental filter for some reason.
He is 64 years old, so someone would think that his parents let him play poker at this point
and make relevant searches Smile

lol yeah. it's just adblockers doing it.. I remember years ago on here thinking 'rakeback' was being filterd and I got paranoid it was because we weren't supposed to encourage people to take RB deals instead of the other bonuses..

But yeah, there's a whole list of words/names that trigger links to BRM pages and addblocking software removes the hyperlinks/words from the post

Had such a problem lately with addblocker.
Admin noted at once the source of the problem.
I have white listed since then the BRM page and every thing works normal.
(my problem was with Adblock for chrome)

My parents are very strict.

In fact you might almost say they are a bit stiff!

That was exactly my problem. Didn't think of it because this is the only site (that I visit) that causes a problem.

Without the add blocker the site is a bit garish but with it some posts become unreadable.

Still given that the ads are where BRM gets a lot of its finances from I guess I can put up with the eye-strain. Smile Alternatively I could Cool

It's good that you now know the exact problem so you can definately fix it.

Chrome it's pretty intuitive so you should able to work out a solution in no time. GL!

Interesting problem... I never would have thought that some sort of filter would block out just simple words typed on a messageboard that you yourself would enter... Question

Just one more good thing about being hooked up here... Lots of folks really know their computer stuff...!

...unlike me,....I'm just a dunce when it comes to this sort of thing...! Confused

Turns out that I am too, even though I am a retired Programmer/Systems Admin. Aww crap!
