WINDOWS XP   0
In case that some of you still using Windows XP, i hope you know, that the support for it
will stop on April 2014.
So if you are using them like i do, you better figure out what you will do, since after that
you will be on huge risk accessing the internet

thinking of getting another computer with windows 7 os installed. Checked into buying it separately and installing it myself...they want upwards of $350 for the os...can get a good used computer with the 7 os for way cheaper than that Smile

Depends too on where you go on the internet. After 15 years on the net I have had very few issues with viruses, and the one instance I had I should have known better than to open an attachment on a certain email. The trouble is, I was expecting a similar type email from one of my suppliers so I did not suspect anything, and then BAM!

I only have one old laptop still running XP. I've been on 7 for a while now and like it, but have two other laptops on 8 and can't stand it.

It will not only an issue of viruses i believe
Your laptop will be open to any kind of exploits.
I wouldnt trust any connection at all to the net even with antivirus running.

I like my laptop too, and besides occasional formats it works great, even with
one fan since the other one broke. And its a 2004 model.
I doubt it can handle Windows 7 without hardware upgrade, and that would have been
just a waste of money.

I recently downgraded my PC from Windows 7 to Windows XP. The reason is that my PC was just running slow and for some reason it couldn't handle the Windows 7 operating system. I find that kinda strange since the PC is more then enough upgraded with Hardware and all that to be able to handle it but I guess I have a to old of a motherboard or something?

Anyways, my PC works FANTASTIC right now and I couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out. The fact that the support stops doesn't bother me. I'll just have to do regular virus searches to make sure there's no nasty little files that's gotten through to my system.

The support don't protect you from viruses... They only patch a HUGE amount of errors, holes, etc. So end of support don't change too much, I think.
I personally prefer Windows 7, because it's much more stable than XP.

BTW, do you notice, that Microsoft make good Windows for every 2 version?
Here is table of Windows (the good in my opinion is bolded)
Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8...
So my next upgrade will be Windows 9, I think Big Smile
