Are you over it?  0
Hey guys, Michael here

Is anybody else at the point where they are just sick and tired of online poker? I'm not complaining about any particular site/client or software here just online poker as a whole. I don't know wether I'm in a 4-6 month downswing or wether online poker is just as bad and rigged as I think it is.

It just seems that EVERY single time I have the nuts wether it be preflop, post flop or on the turn I get sucked out on and lose. I'm not talking about people having half a deck of outs against me, I'm talking getting 2, 3 or even 4 or 5 outed on a constant basis, it seems my 80+ percent hands only hold up 20% of the time, I think it's time to give online poker up and just stick to live games, it's beyond ridiculous.

Is anybody else going through this also? Advice? Convince me not to give it up? I'm not sure what the point of this thread is, just a frustration rant more or less.

Feel free to rant Smile I gave up on online poker and 99.9% only play live. Every once in a while I am home so I give online a shot and to me it is still the same.

If you like it take a break rant all you want and try again. Smile

River luck, suckouts and idiots, yes, but I still love to play. Have a few weeks break, it even did me good a while back.

I guess you should take a longer brake from poker not jsut online for some time an reconsider your game.

Such a long downswing invevitable comes with a bit of tilt from your part so a break from the game is what you need right now. After that you could start with live poker and see how is your game.

well it depends on what do you want from poker- if you think you can live from it, then you are in for a tough ride. however if you just want to enjoy poker as a hobby and cut down on the costs- take the safe route: ndb/freerolls to build your roll ---> spend the free roll on the tables, if you go up- super, if you go bust, go a step back and repeat the process.

It's a bit of time I feel tired of playing poker.

nothing rresult related.

I'm progressively loosing interest in poker and don't know the reason.

I am just not able to grind tables like I did in the past: I can do it for two three days in a row but then I have to take a break because I don't enjoy like I used to.

Tried also MTT instead of cashgame, but after a couple of hours I feel really bored.

BORING is the key word to me now when i think about poker.

Maybe it's just a period, a phase in my poker life (bytw a short poler life I guess: I started it all on 2009) or maybe not.

Only time can tell me which answer fits to me

hey, well obviously going pro would be a dream come true, but no i'm not intending to "live" of poker.

the problem isn't my play as macubass suggested, i dont get tilted very easily (atleast i dont think so) it's just the CONSTANT suck outs, for example just this morning i had a fish crushed A Spade 10 Spade vs A 7 offsuit i hit top pair top kicker with the nut flush draw the flop was 10 6 K with 2 Spade on the flop, I check the fish bets i re-raise and he calls, turn was something like a 3 i dont remember exactly total brick, check and the fish bets again i re-raised him and he didn't have much behind and he pushes, i call and the cards turn over, MAGIC RIVER TIME!!! bam 7 on the river, it's scenarios like this on a CONSTANT basis that are the issue, this is basically the perfect example of what my rant is about.

I have to say that i dont play like i used to.
Life is catching up at some point and you just dont have free time for everything.
I play when i have some time available, have a drink to relax, so i dont take it so serious
as i was before.
Maybe thats the reason that bad beats dont seem to affect me like it used to.

Downswings are a load of bollocks. When your favourite every time you always get sucked out on to idiot hands or calls, its lucky rigged crap, always for the poor players.

Hello Benjicleo,

This is my story: I play online poker from 2009. Before 2009 I thought poker is somekind of a gambling game. I thought it is a pure luck to win. I didn't realise that you have to think, you have to use your mind. But that year two online poker companies offered me a job. I passed the tests and all the interviews and I started to work there.

I didn't know anything about the game. I didn't know the strength of the poker hands. I didn't know how to play. So, they trained me. We had a lot of test. My work was to play a lot of online poker as well and I get paid for that. Smile Little by little I got attracted by this game. I wanted to play a lot of poker, but it was not allowed. The poker employees are not allowed to play poker for real money!

So, I was very unhappy. When I stopped working for those poker companies, I started to play a lot of online poker with real money. I played 12 hours daily at the beginning. It was very funny. I was like addicted. I couldn't live without my PC.

But from september this year, I found the online poker very boring! I don't feel pleasure anymore! Even if I win, I am not satisfied! At the cash games I won some money, but I don't feel the fever of it, I don't feel the fun of the online game!

I changed my mind for the online poker because this summer I discovered the LIVE poker here at the Sunny Beach: http://platinum.bg/poker-room

I played a lot of LIVE tournaments, Live poker cash games EUR1/EUR/2 You can enter with EUR40 at these tables and play a lot. I had a lot of fun. I played 10 hours almost every night. I met very interesting players around the whole world, including some PRO from Asia and Bulgaria.

The meals, the drinks and the cigarettes were completely free from the casino. We had lunch and dinner all together (the poker players) and we shared a lot of poker stories. So, the live poker is really priceless and can't be compared with the online poker. For example if you hold AA, the dealer gives you EUR25 bonus, even if it is bad beat or a winning hand. Because he said it is very difficult to receive AA. That doesn't happen so often like the online poker.

dlkiv made her own decission to play only LIVE. I made my choice, as well to play LIVE mostly, because the experinece is exciting, plus you meet a lot of players around the whole globe! You have new contacts.

It is easy to win at the live poker tables at the casinos. One night I won more than EUR2000 and I started only with EUR100. But I was lucky beacuse most of the players were from Israel (Jews) and they play poker, the same way like they play at the slot machines! Big Smile

My advice is: If you never tried a Live poker at casinos, try it and compare it to online poker and then choose where to stay: LIVE or ONLINE!

I work at the sector of tourism, so next summer I will definately go back to my favourite casino at Sunny Beach and I will play a lot of LIVE poker again!

Winter time I am too bored, so I play mostly online freerolls.

I see you are from Australia, where the minimum salary is $622 ($16.37 per hour) Your country has the biggest salaries in the whole world! My point is that you can afford it to play LIVE poker often if you like it! Blink

Well, this was my story. I hope you liked it! Now, it's up to you to choose where to stay: LIVE or ONLINE Question Confused

I wish you all the best and good luck with your poker career! Smile

Best Regards,
Peter7878

You know the all inclusive system hotels right? Here it is the same system. You enter in the (free) restaurant, take a tray and serve by yourslef. You can eat a lot of, without stopping! Big Smile

A lot of choices: 20 salads, fish, beef, chicken ( they don't serve pork there because a lot of Jews, Israel customers), chips, 20 desserts, a lot of fuits, nonalcoholic and alcholic (vodka, whisky, wine, brandy, baylies, liquors) drinks and Marlboro Light!

Everything is completely free 24/7! I was really excited! This was my first casino I didn't know their politics of free food and drinks!

My work was very near to that casino, and sometimes I entered there before work just to have my free lunch without playing poker! Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile They just asked me once: "Are you a custommer of our casino?" And I said: "Yes". And that was it. And I entered at the restaurant to have my free lunch!

Doubt they would do that in the UK but I would be a smoking wreck. I already smoke enough when I play at night, especially if I get a few beats.

Probably this marketing plan at the casinos is working the same way worldwide! You should try at least once a UK casino, and then share with us! Smile

Or if you played already live, just ask where is the casino restaurant and bar and if it is free of charge!

I have never played live in a casino but I want to one day. There is one near me in torquay which a mate has said is alright so might try and go there with him one time when I have enough money.

Here the minimum at the cash tables with blinds EUR1/EUR2 is EUR40. You can seat with at least EUR40. The maximum allowed to seat is EUR200. You can win million, but you can seat with maximum EUR200.

There were blinds EUR2/EUR5 tables as well, but I never seated there.

It would also be nice to play against people who dont fish, donk, and hope for luck 24/7 for once.

Sounds good though ^

My feelings exactly Magatt. I have been playing online for six years and some live play for about 4 years now, and for the last year I have trouble getting into it. I will take an extended break, a few months, catch the fever again and play for a few days solidly and be back into it, and then I get busy and lose interest. When I first started my kids were younger and I had more time, however now that they are getting towards the end of their elementary years they are active in sports and activities, and so I am getting more involved in their activities as well as driving them. My life is going through some other major changes right now, and I want to take this opportunity to make some other changes too. Among them are less computer time, more family time, more time for taking care of my health, and I want to play a team sport again like I used to before we had kids. GL in your life journey Magatt.

Clearly, Live > online.

I think most people who play online do it because they can't play live whenever they want or because they have never tried it. Everything is better in a live game except the speed of the game. And still with a good dealer and/or playing with 2 decks you can save a lot of time between hands... Smile

It is only natural to lose interest a bit.
I didn't play for about a year recently but I keep coming back to it.
