I have come into a lot of trouble with this hand a million times and big raises were my problem since there is three over cards that beat you once on the flop and on beyond streets. Just call and play from there I say.

I just call, because a player who raised in early position can have a bigger pocket, AK or thomething. A raise is not good in this situation , because if i get a reraise or an all in, i have to fold.

It is one of my worst pocket pairs in terms of winning on the river. So unless it is a game that it is not important, where i can reraise and go all in with it, i fold. Lost way too many times when i was using a different play style with them.

I've seen some commentary on JJ from some of the big shot pros... Seems that JJ is regarded as one of the more worse pockets you can get in poker! Being a high pair, they have potential,...but they also have a huge potential to get you into a lot of trouble. I generally just play them as a strong pair, but I won't push the issue with them. If I don't have to bet out a lot of chips, I'll just play them through. If you just shove them preflop,...you will lose MOST of the time...

The problem with JJ :
when there s a A, K or Q on the flop --> bigger pairs possible and as your opponents raised preflop they probably have hands like AK,AQ and AJ and even A10s
If there s no A,K or Q on the flop --> opponents can have higher pocket pairs like AA,KK and QQ (reraise)
In a multiple pot JJ is equal to me as any low pair --> only valuable as you hit a set....

this is the most difficult hand to play well. do you raise, do you just call or do you fold. the 'no set no bet' rule after the flop is sometimes the best way to go. didnt somebody say that there are 3 ways to play pocket jacks and theyre all wrong!

Really a hand you consider to play very very good, playing this hand post flop is the best way to get valeu, but instead you need 1- A good flop for jacks, 2- Watch what the player does related the situation and the blindlevel(Game phase)

It is a six-handed table. I can't imagine folding pockets jacks on that situation.
Moreover, the guy who raised just made a min-raise so I would definitely 3bet that hand. It is true that a lot of information is lacking, especially your stack and villian stacks. For example if all players are deepstack (let's say 200bb) I would instead call and play set or fold on the flop.
I more often then not get beat with this hand for example playing a free roll on 888poker today in early position raise 3 times the BB get 1 caller 689 on the flop I shove the shorter stack and calls with Q8off turn a Q and he hits 2 pair be careful with this hand my advice
with a lot of action prior to your turn I would call and apply the "no set not bet" rule especially if the borad pairs or there are higher cards on the board but if its all lower cards and its checked round to you then you could possibly take a stab at taking it down but I wouldn't be too reckless as they could be "at it" and be biding their time just to shove you with the bigger pair.
with that logic you saying you'll only play jacks or lower if in the bb and unraised lol? if the price is right call and at least try and make the set at least? otherwise you'll just kick yourself like the time I folded 4s and 2 came up on the board I was sick and could have got so much value as there was 3 high cards also there!

I actually won with JJ OOP today for the first time in ages. Guy was calling down my bets hoping to hit something with his AQ. First time over cards have not come down when I have had JJ.

as the old saying go'es. There is 2 ways to play JJ,and both are wrong, i like to fold if theres any action in front,stay in if its cheap but dont get caught with the knaves or naives gl all
