Amarillo Slim quote: "Son I've made a life out of reading people's faces, and knowing what their cards were by the way they held their eyes"
So what do u think about sunglasses culture at the poker tables?

It's an interesting concept that I don't think 1970's poker rooms would ever allow, but in today's social media Internet high tech driven high stakes, pretty much anything goes. I wonder whether I would be allowed to wear a scream mask and hoody at the next WSOP?

Of cause the sunglasses are put on to avoid being read by the Amarillo Slims of this world. Same with the hoodies ala Phil Laak. The next thing will be announcing your bets and raises through a voice changer.

I've never been able to read someone by his/her face. I think It's kind of hard to read someone unless you are a trained guy.

I have heard that when someone got a pretty good hand (let's say pocket aces) the pupil dilates, so sunglasses my help to does not reveal it.

I try to read other poker player by their bet pattern. In my opinion I think it's better.

Gl all!

i dont like the sunglasses, same as a hoody, ipod etc.
poker should be a social game when playing live poker and not hiding behind everything you can.

I really dont care if they wear sunglasses or not because my reading skills are non-existent!! But seriously though i think that these should be banned along with headphones and hoodies. They will be playing in full body armour next!!!!

It works for many as it would work for me also if it was only my eyes giving me away.
I have never played live, and there is no chance of playing for real money,
since i dont have what it takes, when it comes controlling myself and emotions, depending
on the cards and the results Smile

G'day mates

I dedicate this to my fellow mobsters Smile

Corey Hart

I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes

While, she's deceiving me,
It cuts my security (has)
she got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades; oh no
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades;
(oh no) (I can't believe it)
You got it made with the guy in shades; oh no

you can download and watch the video on youtube if you want more Smile

be cool

I wear my sunglasses at night... Cool Nice song, but it looks a little bit stupid at the poker tables.
Without emotions at the live table, this game would be boring. Or all people at the final table wear sunglasses- the men in black Big Smile

G'day mate

That would be really cool.
Picture this every player in the next WSOP final table event is told that they are to wear a black suit.
They are all given the same kind of mirrored black sunglasses and then they all walkout to the song playing "Sharp Dressed Man", by ZZ Top.
How many of them do you think would go change at the first break? LOL Big Smile

I've no problem with people wearing sunglasses, the hands are where the tells are.

Some players definately need them some definately don't. Take for example Tom Dwan, it has one bullet proof poker face, you can't read anything from him.

On the other part tons of new live poker players need them, they are useful for sure.
