ALL IN  -2
If you have AA or KK, Do not slow play them, go for an all in even if its is to win a few chips.

....why?

half the time, you will get bad beat playing them out,but if you go all in ususally only one or 2 will call you, theres pretty good chance you going to take them chips. get chips any way you can. Big Smile

I can see where you are coming from but in the long run you are going to lose out on lots of value if you keep playing them this way. I would put a nice raise in and try to isolate yourself up against one or maybe two players and see what comes down on the flop

ok i will... here are the results: went all-in, had 1500 stack there was a decent amount of 40 chips in the pot, so without any hesitation i pushed everything in the middle of the table (i trusted you, since you come not from a 3rd world country) and also i believed that it's mighty +ev thing to push 1,5K to win 40 chips...so one dude called, he had 27o - what an imbecile i thought...board came out: A2252 - i lost to quads with a full house.
moral of the story: sh1t doesn't smell like roses.

Sh1t can smell like roses if you add some rose essence to it.

I used to shove them all the time in the beginning of my glorious poker career....

...THEN,...I started to slow play them in an attempt to extract maximum chips from the field...

Both of those strategies got me mediocre results...

...THEN,... I started to place a HUGE bet,...like say 3 or 4 times the big blind. This would shove most folks out of the hand after they placed their blind size bets...sometimes everybody in the hand, giving them the idea that you actually HAVE something, and you're not just playing bingo. This would bring you heads up play, or maybe with 2 or 3 others in the hand. At that point I shove them...

More often than not you win the hand giving you a much better result in the long run... Smile Thumbs Up Dollar

Depends on my position on the table. UTG and the first EP I them more aggressive as anyone behind you could call with something and crack them easy. For me anyway. BB and SB if there a few limpers I will either 3 bet aggressive or just push all in.

but yea , aggro is good. selective aggro ofc, like... dont shove more than 70% of ur hands or u could be labeled as a donk.. and stuff. but anything below that is ok in my eyes.

I actually take a different route depending on how deep in the game it is and my stack size.

If its early on I raise 5 x BB and then bet big on the flop. If the board pairs, or my opponent shoves then I will call unless I have a really good read on them, and they are tight players. Then I will consider laying it down.

If its late in the game and I am short stacked to about 8 BBs then I will flat call and hope to get action before or after the flop. Very often you will get someone with a lower pair, or a big stack raising after you so then I just raise all in and hope. Most times it works and I get a nice double up. If I open shove with AA then the chances are they will fold and I lose good value.

Summed up nicely, including positionally. If it's super early in a freeroll I'll jam 'em preflop hoping to catch those players who just like to gamble, but with a decent buyin the above advice is perfect.

You are right though, usually a bad idea to limp with AA Smile

I know what you mean by slow playing them, but myself I just guess I am not that lucky, because I did slow play them a few times, and got burnt everytime, and always because of a straight . but when you get players that will play any two cards, they seem to hit it for some reason, I also seen me slow playing kings and a guy had 2-7 offsuit and he called and caught 3 deuces. but me personally I rather go all in and take my chances.lol but I know what you are saying and does make sense, but I am just not that lucky to slow play and let a lot of players call me and land up losing. Cool

It doesnt f*ckin matter who play them and how. The thing is if you have AA or KK (sometimes AK too) you want all the f*ckin chips on the table come to you. All of them. Because you secretly still believe that you holding the holy grail of starting hands...
But the thing is, none of the above hands has a midas touch if some idiot calling station comes with you and make his set/draw etc. on the board...
You want no more than two people to see the flop with you - so at least some of your winning percentage remain even if they got drawheavy board, you want no more than two of them just to make sure they dont flop some nut or set but you want all of their chips.
If you bet little, everybody will call and soon you have trouble playing out your situation with good results. If you overbet, everybody will know what hand you might gotten, so even if they dont have a good read on you before this, they soon will see a pattern on how you handle monster hands. If you openlimp and then try to re-raise pre-flop if somebody dont like that move you again told your hand before flop.
So my advice is everybody should play out monsters on MTTs depending on his/her chipcount, how deep into the tourey they are in, which blind level, antes etc. how many players they want to see flop with and what position they have on the table.
Stacksize is important, isolation is important and keepin cool is if you loose is also important.
You really want to maximise your chips with monster hands yet you want to minimise your fail rate (cuz many times they will be far from enough to win showdown at the end) so the best is always try to have some good reads on your opponents and play each hand as the situation dictates rather than your greed would tell you so...

Great advice from Demo....... What you have to remember is that win poker, it's not about getting as much of your stack in the pot as possible, it's getting as much as everyone else's stack in the pot as possible.... Shoving PRE flop won't generally achieve this, as neither will slow play. Generally aggressive play will bring one or two into the pot preflop and then you suck them dry!

thats why u dont want him to see cheap flop with 27o. In freerolls, bet sizing doesnt really matter, especially in early stages so if you think your 3bb raise is gonna be called by some 27o, make that raise 4x higher if thats what it takes to stop people from calling you with 27o Tongue

Why did you write an entire sentence just for saying something so common. Just write AA or KK and rest of us can argue for whatever we like about. Got really tired about that kind of posts. Myself am I new here but try to write something meaningful not just trolling so I can gather Mob points. So I refuse to write down anything relevant about this topic, although I many thoughts. I mean c'mon English its your's mother language, you can write two more thoughts, rest of us have to think a lot to transform our ideas to written form.

I always play AA and KK by the book, with KK my stats are not so good since preflop i always end up playing against AA.

But with AA it's true that you get bad beats but it's plus value to play them by the book!
