In case you missed it: World Poker Tour Alpha8 Johannesburg ($100,000 buy-in) kicked off last Friday and saw 10 entries (9 players + 1 rebuy by Antonio Esfandiari). On Saturday, the final 7 players return for the second day of play and, after several hours of thrilling poker, Daniel "Jungleman" Cates ended up as the last man standing for $500,000 in prize money along with the prestigious Alpha8 tr[...] Read more » Daniel "Jungleman" Cates Wins WPT Alpha8 Johannesburg ($500,000)
9 entries and the bubble bursted on the fourth. This sure didnt worth the time and effort they put into it. Not even a hand worth mentioning in the article. The story in this rather that the 'local hero' finished second, I guess he might played super tight but what da hell do I know, right? Anyways good luck for all of them surviving South Africa and its prestigious sights unmugged, thats probably good news too. Who knows?

massive, massive tourney. They need more tourneys of this kind, with 5-9 people participating, where winner gets a crown nr 29187. Soon enough they will run out of names for all those supposedly, world champion, crowns.
its about time they start to number their crowns, instead of names.
"Hey my name is theapple, and i won a poker world championship tourney, also got a crown nr 21.149 that comes with it. Im a real poker world champ, no other participant was able to get close to me. All 3 of them were way behind and now the world of poker knows how awesome poker player theapple is."
at least they all get to say they have reached the final table.

It already seemed crazy to pay 100k for a prize of 1.7m (a few weeks ago I read a news here), more crazy I think this "tournament". Risk 100k in this case is not worth it for me. They must do it for the honor of winning some "poker championship". Anyway, congratulations to the winner. The others should want to kill (I would be crying even to lose 100k XD).
