All Men Over 50 Read This  0
well it all started out as a regular day,go to work play some poker after with a few beers.so i,m playing and i get this sharp pain in my big toe on my right foot.so i took off my shoe and sock and took a look, nothing just a sharp, so i rubbed my foot a bit and it went away.a couple of days went buy then i noticed the toe was turning purple, so i just thought that was part of the pain and it will go away to. after two more days the top part of the foot also started to turn purple, so i figured i should go to the clinic down the street and have them check it out.when i got in to see the doctor he said i needed an x-ray, down the hall i go,i come back, he says he doesn,t see anything wrong so it should go away in a couple of days. ok so i wait seven days all this time the pain is getting worse ,at some times the pain is so bad the i can't even walk on that foot.so on the seventh day i get my oldest son to drive me to the clinic again, this time i get a female doctor, she takes one look at my foot and tells me she wants me to go to the emergency room at the hospital accross the street right away. (just took some meds so I will continue later) thx for reading

What was the problem with it?

So what was the problem? It said all men over read this, leads me to assume that it could have something to do with your package. But then I read and it's your toe, I'm confused.
Either way, hope you're okay!

Take care and good luck everyone! Aww crap!

So I read it all, but the end is missing. No end of the story! Confused I am confused! What is the diagnosis of that leg? Why that happened? Any reasons? What the doctor said?

I hope you are better now! Share with us the end of that, please!

Sounds serious there crash....

I saw a thing on Doctor OZ recently,.... (I don't watch it,...she has it on) where he was saying that if you see a purple patch under your big toe nail, to get it examined RIGHT away, as it's a sign that CANCER could be, has taken, or IS setting in... Confused

Don't mean to scare the crap out of you, but hopefully the X-Ray will reveal just what's up with that.

Do you rember if you passed out drunk in any snowbanks lately...? Frostbite maybe...?

Not making light of a possible serious situation. Hope things are NOT serious... Smile Thumbs Up

ok guess I'll finish,this...so after i get to the emergency room the doctor takes one look and says I need an emergency ct scan(usually you have to book this in advance) so the next morning I'm back for the scan at 7:30 , they do the scan and tell me to go wait in the emergency room.after a few minuets.thedoc comes to get me , the arteries in my right leg are over 90%clogged.I need an operation right away.as it turned out the specialist is on vacation and i,ll have to wait a couple of days. buy the time he got back I was in so much pain, nothing they gave me worked not even perks and i took 5 at a time.I got an appointment as soon as he got back, he said he heard about but he was surprised as to how fast it had progressed.(by now 3/4 of my foot was purple and the toe had started turning black)so now he says we need to open the arteries and get the blood flowing and to stop it from getting to the leg, if this happens i could loose the leg.so all and all the opt goes ok. my big toe is almost dead, but they won't cut it off untill the rest of the foot and leg are in the clear, there is still plenty of pain(seems only oxyconton takes care of this pain) and still too much purple in the foot and leg.so they say i stay here in this hospital untill the stupid toe mumifies and falls off or untill the leg and foot are completely in the clear, and they say i even might still have a piece of toe left. well thats it guy,s so if you get a pain in your toe for no reason then some purple get to the hospital.

Good to hear it's nothing life threatening crash...! Smile Thumbs Up That vein in the legs thing runs in my family too on my Mother's side... Actually my Aunt who lived in Ireland passed away from complications from that, but fear not,...she lived into her late '80s. They wanted to do ANOTHER operation on her,...and she said "NO,....just let me go.... Sleepy "

Be careful of that OxyContin stuff... I know a few guys who after having a back operation or 2 get prescriptions for that stuff,...and they are ALL fcuked up... Just take what you need to deal with the pain short term,...then get the hell off it, or YOU TOO could become a hillbilly heroine junkie... Both a blessing and a curse all contained in one tiny little tablet... Thumbs Down Confused Thumbs Up

On a lighter note,...you JUST might be able to capitalize on your situation.... Have the doc save your toe,.... Ever hear of that bar in The Yukon...?

http://www.sourtoecocktailclub.com/sourtoe.html

Google it: sour toe

Maybe you could sell it to them,...or start your own... Smile

I think they charge like $25 or $50 per shot,...and your name goes into the annals that you partook...!

Thank you for sharing that with us Crash. My aunt suffers from a similar affliction, but her case is probably much less severe and is taking medication and seeing a doctor regularly. Your description is very vivid and really impresses the importance of getting stuff checked out when things don't seem right. For some reason men are always hesitant about seeing doctors, and I certainly fall into that category, but sometimes you have to go.

I wish you the best of luck and strength as you go through this, and hope to hear good news from you shortly. Thumbs Up

Such symptoms can be caused by diabetes.

This post by Redfern has been removed by the thread owner (since this is a blog-thread), probably due to being spam or because it was irrelevant to this topic.

that is one of the things they ask you about and also check you out for,and ask if these kind of illnesses run in the family, but we don,t have things like colon cancer diabetes heart attacks etc.most in my family die of natural causes in there sleep. went for another CT Scan today this time they rechecked my legs, abdomen, and heart area.I think these guys noticed that my health card say donor, and their looking for parts they can salvage. I removed one post because this is a serious thing and not a laughing matter, so if you feel like posting something funny or stupid, we already have a thread for that. they did the second ct so they could also check out my liver since they saw a spot on it during the first ct. as it turns out the spot is just a spot and the liver specialist says my liver is in perfect health. so at least some good news..

Great to hear you've got some good news, and I'd like to echo all the other messages of support on here. As you said... some things are no laughing matter and any health related issue is infinitely more important than poker, or anything else for that matter.

I like to think (on the whole) we have a friendly little community going here, and I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say that we are here for you.

I know some old people that play poker and I can tell you the old people I know are real good at poker, there is one of them who is a mathematics professor so he apply his maths skills to poker and he is real good at it Just imagine poker and maths lovers together. You can do many things with taht combination.

Anyway I got lot of respect for the long experienced players and always like to play against them as it is challenging!!

well it seems that this hospital is to busy to wait for my toe to finish dieing, so they need the bed for people that are dieing, fair enough,I agree, so there going to show me how to inject the Heparin, into my belly fat(lol I really don't have any) just like they do with insulin, then there going to send me home. I get to come back when it's time to cut the toe or part of the toe off. I will have a nurse or home care worker visit with me every day to make sure nothing goes wrong.one of the things they do before sending you home is make sure the heart is ok because an operation like mine takes blood away from the heart, I passed so looks like i'm on my way tomorrow or the next day. thx for reading. keep you all updated on how i'm doing. Thumbs Up

Do you have some sort of mobile device on which you can play poker if you have to spend any length of time stuck in a hospital bed crash...?

Do they now rent you a bedside computer like they do cable TV or a telephone in hospitals these days...?
