New Zealand Man Changes Name Ater Losing Poker Bet

Believe it or not but a 22-year-old man from Normanby, New Zealand, has changed his name to ‘Full Metal Havok More Sexy N Intelligent Than Spock And All The Superheroes Combined With Frostnova' after losing a drunken bet in a poker game 5 years ago. The name is 99 characters long - just 1 letter shy of Department of Internal Affairs' (DIA) 100 character limit. According to DIA's Births Deat[...]   Read more » New Zealand Man Changes Name Ater Losing Poker Bet

New Zealand, the land where naming creativity never ends... Gosh, what a crazy bet that should have been! But, if he's 22 years old now, that means he had 17 when he lost that bet. In Portugal, he would be considered a minor (less than 18) and that would turn the bet illegal... oh, wait, every bet is illegal in Portugal (only lottery and casino games at the casinos, not online). These guys are really living in another world, asking to pay for a bet like this...

Haha love it, the best part is thath he owed up to his debt, that is his losing bet, so big respect to this man. Some would have bailed out saying it was just too silly or something like that. Nice piece of news, keep them coming BRM.

Anyway time to browse on more top notch threads!!

I found myself in similar scenarios sometimes, altough we used to bet on alcoholic beverages, so any damage done at least wasnt permanent. We could afford to think about our livers later in life.
Good for this guy, I would really like to look at the face of the officer who will inspect his passport whenever he go to travel from now on.

Heard of that story. There are always tons of stuff to gamble and as we saw your name can make one of them. Think the question remains :What the winner of drunken prop bet was about to do if he lost it?Seriously I do not know how drunk those guys were but just to agree to such bets indicates betting addiction problems. Have never cross limits and never make such decisions being drunk of course.

P.S. Now how his familly gonna call him?Full Metal Havok More Sexy N Intelligent Than Spock And All The Superheroes Combined With Frostnova the dinner is served!!!
May God help them.

Well that will be fun every time he fills out an application form or any form on the net or offline.
Good story I guess but he's clearly going to keep using his actual name..

Some people will do anything for a bet. What a name to pick!! I bet it takes him a while to sign an autograph! Fair play to him for sticking to the bet and i love reading about these prop bets

Ha Ha...! I don't know if that's funny or absurd,...both I guess... Smile

I was watching Conan O'Brian last night and even HE metioned it and made a few jokes about it...!

They would never allow someone to do that here in Canada,...I've heard of cases before where someone wanted to name their kid some crazy name, and it wasn't allowed,...and here I thought we were one of the free-est nations on Earth... Well, we are in most respects,...and even more so than the 'Land of Freedom' to the south of us... Smile Thumbs Up

A bet is a bet, if he decided that it's worth to gamble with his name i guess it's okay lol

On the other hand i wonder if the bet said that he also needs to keep this new name, i mean okay he changed, now he can change it again.
